Incisions

Question about incisions....I had surgery Dec 22nd and was told to not get the incisions wet. So I have been gently cleaning them. The clear stuff they put on the incision is starting to peel up. Am I suppsed to clean it off or leave it until it comes off on its own?

I believe that you just let them fall off on their own, which takes 1-2 weeks. I was also told that it is ok to let Water run over the incisions, just not to take baths or anything where they are just sitting in Water. Hope that helps :)

Just leave it alone. It will come off when it is ready. I had steri-strips on and my incisions still opened some after they fell off, so I put more steri-strips on just to make sure. And you can get your incisions wet like the above poster said, just don't soak.

I had my surgery on the 23rd and have been wondering the same thing! They are starting to peel but I'm scared to peel them the rest of the way. It looks like theres a scab on my incisions and that the scab will peel off along with the glue. That makes me cringe : /

Surgical Glue "clear stuff" will come off on it's own. Don't pull it off or scrub it off no matter what you do.. If it's still there at your next appoinment ask the doctor/nurse if there is something that will remove the rest without tugging or pulling the incision sites. My doctor used butterfly sutures to close my incision sites. At my 1 week check up he told me I could remove them in the shower that night. If your unsure about anything call the office and find out what they would recommend first. Best of Luck on Your new Journey!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
