Still in pain after panic attack

Recommended Posts

I had a panic attack earlier today and am still in pain. This is the second I've had since being sleeved back in august. The first was when I woke up from the anesthesia in the operating room after being sleeve and I was put on the pain med drip and that took care of it. Today I was in a store shopping and it hit me, the pain toned down a lot after about an hour. But now it's back again, feels like somebody is stabbing me right under my rib cage and hurts in the back to. I was just wondering if anybody else has had these kind of issues with panic attacks since being sleeved. I don't think that the pain has anything to do with not taking an acid blocker because I have not taken an acid blocker in over 4 months now. I tried to call my doctors nurse today but all I got was voicemail, any suggestions?

Hi BonBon -- I still take an acid blocker (PPI) and I'm almost 4 months out -- my dr. said up to 6 months -- now, everyone's dr. is different, but it can't hurt to take a PPI and see what happens. That said, pain should not be there -- you do need to go to your dr. or your PCP -- they should have a operator service that will answer the phone and relay a message --

Let us know how you're doing, ok??

Well I still have a gallbladder for now anyway. I've been in the hospital since Wednesday night. They think a gall stone has caused a block in my digestive system, there going to put a scope down my throut tomorrow to see if it's there and get it out. Then sometime in to next few days my gall bladder is suppose to be taken out.

I don't think you are having a panic attack with physical pain. I have had 2 episodes of the stabbing pain and I think it was esophageal spasm. The first one happened after a coughing spell in the hospital and I had to be put back on a pain shot for the night. The second happened just this past week at work and lasted all day, just not as severe as the first one. I did almost go to urgent care for pain relief but I got home and laid down on a heating pad and that helped and it was gone when I woke up.

Gal bladder pain usually feels like some one is blowing up a very large balloon under your right rib cage and that you are going to burst!

I was wondering what makes you think it was a panic attack?

About 2 weeks after my surgery, I woke up at 4am with horrible abdominal pain that radiated to my right side and back. I found out a few days later that it was my gall bladder! After an ultrasound and blood work, I found out that my gall bladder was going bad, so to speak. I never had any problems with it before surgery and just all of a sudden, it went bad. Your problems sound similar to what I experienced.

I know that I am late posting this as the last post was in January 2011, but I am wondering if you had your gall bladder taken out and if it helped you at all. Mine came out 3 weeks ago and I feel sooooo much better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
