Banded Duos?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Brewa2000,

I love hearing about how other couples are doing as well. plus, How many of the guys are on hear as opposed to the girls? How many have both on? My hubby expects me to keep him up on everything that everyone is doing. Any hubbys keeping their wives up on everything?

I'm the one trying to keep my DW informed. She figures that I read all the info so why should she. I'm just happy that we can do this together. It wouldn't be fun if we went out for dinner and one of us had a full dinner of normal food and the other was on liquids. Her banding date is 3 weeks after mine, but it won't be long before we are eating the same foods.

I think that more ladies get banded for a number of reasons. Women are generally more conscious of their appearance. A few of the guys I know said they would rather be fat than go through what I told them I've have and what lies ahead for me. Myself, I've had no second thoughts and smile with every pound that I lose....

DH doesn't "do support groups". On-line or in real life. And he gets a little tired of my telling him what I've read, but oh well.

I think he listens and learns more then he lets on.

Is this just for husband/wife duos? My mom and I are doing this together. She just got approved on Friday and we're waiting on my final approval. As long as I get approved too, we'll be banded same day. :biggrin1:

My dad was gonna do it too, but he's losing weight just by being supportive of my mom (and only eating what she can eat, etc.). So he's decided not to. My sister is interested, but having insurance issues right now :-( AND we have a lady at our church who is trying to get it done!! But right now, just me and mom are actually in the thick of it...

My DH isn't really overweight (well, he is, but not enough to need the band....he's 6"3.5 and weighs about 240 - big, but not like me). When he actually pays attention to what he eats, he loses it quick and since he's being supportive of me by only eating what I can eat (cept he drinks coca-cola -> his downfall lol, and i make him eat my bread when it comes with a meal at a restraunt!). He's already thinning out around his face.

Anyway, my mom has been a great support and we help each other out all the time. I'm sure this is going to be a great adventure for us :) I hope to post pix of us side by side before surgery and then every so often after surgery :)

Other than that, just wanted to say good luck and congrats to those who have been banded :clap2:

Hi Amanda - since I started this thread, I'll make the executive decision that you can post on it!:heh:

Good luck to you and your mom!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
