Dr, Watkins (USA) or Dr. C (Mexico)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am newbie. I orginally planned on having my surgery with Dr. C in Mexico Feb 10. But after doing tons of research, I am leaning towards getting to know Dr. W. I haven't contacted them yet. I have been very happy with Dr. C's staff and this experience with GPS. I have aftercare set up here in ATL. But I am wondering on the cost of Dr. W's surgery. While price is NOT my driving factor, it does have some weight. Dr C is $8,000. As a self pay patient, this I can afford. Can you give me a range on his prices? I will still call myself, but I want to be prepared.

Thanks.

Anna

I am getting the GPS procedure with Dr. Watkins on December 29th. I really liked that the cost of Dr. Watkins included 2 years of follow ups. Every thing's included type deal. He's a bit more expensive that Dr. C but I think him and his staff are worth every penny. I didn't do any research on Dr. C since I live in Cincinnati it made sense to go to the close Dr. I'm sure you get wonderful care and skill with either Dr. Good luck with your decision!

Ya'all are very fortunate to live so close to Doc W! I drove for 12 hours to have my surgery with him. I don't have a much experience yet, still recovering myself, but I can tell you I'm very pleased with Dr W and staff. It just felt right.

Does Dr Aceves perform the plication? I thought he did the sleeve gastrectomy but not plication. If he does perform it that's good to know because he is very experienced, especially with revisions.

I had Dr Lopez Corvala and am very happy with my surgery and the hospital and nursing staff. I am however very impressed with Dr Watkins responsiveness. I did a post after my op and he replied and was very helpful and he had nothing to gain! smile.gif

I live in California, and Dr. Corvala was close and made sense. I really liked him, his staff and hospital.

I don't think you can go wrong with either Dr.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
