Sleeved December 8!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved by Dr. Landerholm at the Puget Sound Surgical Center in Edmonds, Washington yesterday. From what I can gather, this center is one of a very few that does the procedure as an outpatient. I was there at 8:30 in the morning, surgery by 9:45, and in recovery by 11:00. They gave me a IV of saline, and sent me off. Because I live on an island, we took a motel room nearby, because I needed to go back today for two more saline IVs.

According to the doctor, it went beautifully, and apparently I have a lovely liver, something that, up to this time, I was completely ignorant of.

Thus far I have had zero difficulty getting down the Water. I keep a glass by my side, sipping constantly. The incisions are still oozing, but not terribly. I am more sore today than I was yesterday, but it's like I've done a thousand situps - uncomfortable, but not impossible.

Yesterday and today, Clear liquids. Tomorrow, I start Protein Drinks. The few I've tried all tasted horrible, but I've got LOTS of samples.

I'm thinkig of going to the gym tomorrow for the treadmill -- then I won't find myself exahausted and a half mile from home. Then again, I may just feel like lying in bed moaning...

How are my sleeve brothers and sisters doing?

Congratulations! Sounds like you are doing great. I am chuckling because I just noticed we picked almost the exact same ticker. Anyway, sounds like you are doing well. I hope my sleeve goes as smoothly :) Good luck with the rest of your recovery!

Thea,

We were both sleeved on the exact same date. This far out I've been doing great! No pain, no trouble with Water, etc. Just good! I have been craving fruit which I think is my body's way of saying go eat something. but who knows... you?

WOW!!! You are doing great!!! I had my surgery 1 week ago and they kept me in the hospital for 2 nights. I think I am doing great, but I don't think I want to take on a treadmill yet. Maybe I am just being a baby. Please just be careful. I have read posts from others who have over done it the first week and then it took them longer to recover. I guess what ever you Dr. says is the right thing for you.

Congratulations!!

Hey, can you tell me how to show a ticker at the bottom of my posts?

i was sleeved dec 3rd and it was outpatient as well. I wouldnt have had it any other way. The idea of having to stay in the hospitol freaks me out. I loved that i got to go home and relax in the comfort of my own home.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You're about a week behind me.. i was sleeved Dec. 2. Stayed in the hospital two days after but it was a VERY nice hospital, and I felt more secure with the support people all around me, in case I got into trouble, which I did NOT. PLUS, I got to have a pain pump. :)

So glad to hear that you are doing well and the pain and nausea are manageable. It sounds like you had a real good doctor, and... congratulations on your lovely liver!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
