How did everyone do at Thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

I disappointed myself. I cooked, ate a little turkey, roast pork sweetenedd yams and a sliver of coconut custard pie. That was at 3pm I couldn't eat all of this at once so I grazed. While I was packing up food for my family to take with them I took another piece of pie. I knew i was too full and it just sat there until i was able to throw up over and over again. i have been grazing for the last two days and I'm upset about it. I need to get back to watching myself and what I eat. I don't think I lost much since my sleeve on October 18th. I don't want to get discouraged but I'm getting there.

Well, I didn't see a gain, but I did exactly what I knew I would do, and that is graze all fricken day up until an hour before I put the food on the table. For my meal, I ate a little turkey breast, a sliver of ham, 1/4cup of loaded mashed potatoes, 1/4cup of sweet potato casserole, and 1/2 of a brown and serve roll with a bunch of cranberry sauce. food lube was my friend on Thanksgiving. I loaded up on gravy and cranberry sauce, and honestly that's the only reason I was able to eat as much as I did. Plus, I ate super slow, and drank a cup of coffee before my meal.

I waited 1.5 hour and ate a small slice of homemade pumpkin pie minus the crust, minus the cool whip so I did pretty good on the dessert front. Of course, 3 hours later I had another slice of pie and 1 piece of ham for dinner.

Again, I didn't gain or lose any weight, but I knew I was going to graze and "taste test" everything as long as I was in the kitchen. It happened, it's over, and done with. I have my birthday, Christmas parties, and NYE events coming up that I'm way more concerned about than I was about Thanksgiving. I'm pretty sure my birthday week will be a big test for me as I'm having several lunches, a huge night out with the girls, and our husbands so there's no telling what my "December" will look like on the scale. I also plan on doing something special with my husband for NYE this year, and I foresee several cocktails and parties in our future.

Since I am still on a liquid diet, Thanksgiving was difficult this year. Since we don't have any family near us, we normally have Thanksgiving with two other transplant families. However, since I was still sore and could only eat liquids, we decided to only do our small family. My husband asked that I only cook his favorite, my crawfish stuffing and he'd do the rest. Only having to prepare one dish was great but how can you cook without tasting? That was difficult. Even though I didn't feel hungry, it felt almost like I was segregated since I couldn't take part in the meal with the rest of my family. At least things will be a little better for Christmas since I will be doing solid foods by then.

My husband was great. I had surgery Monday before thanksgiving, so nothing but broth for me. My hubby took a piece of the ham, then boiled and seasoned it to make me a yummy thanksgiving broth. Later that night I had some of the pinto bean juice. It was nice. I am soooooo looking forward to mushies on Christmas dinner though.

I haven't had surgery yet but I have to maintain my required weight loss until surgery. I made dinner for my family plus a few marines that didnt get to go home. I was really worried that I would eat to much and gain but I was too busy to eat and I didnt taste anything except the greenbeans while I was cooking. By the time I sat down to eat I kept busy feeding my baby girl and cranky 3 year old. I only ate a few small pieces of turkey and a small portion of sweet potatoes, some green Beans and a small bite of pie. Then later I tried to eat a piece of pie but the sweet made my stomach hurt so i couldnt eat much. It is great to hear that most of you sleevers did so well! Can't wait to call my self sleeved!

I am getting my sleeve in 2 weeks, but to answer your question AWFUL! Not only was I in a food comma I got my entire family in it as well! doh.gifThere is a difference between getting the sleeve and the end of the world, I had a meal as if it was my last...RIDICULOUS! Someone sent me a message with a pasted section from Urban Dictionary which stated that the definition of Thanksgiving is...another excuse for Americans to spend the day eating!! Well...I cannot argue with that imagine what it would be like if in order to be thankful we would have to "fast" that day!!!

I can't believe it! First of all, it was much easier than I thought it was going to be to get through the day and not be tempted to try to overeat. I put a teaspoon or so of each of the things that I really wanted and just ate that and was "Thanksgiving full" on just a few ounces of food (as always!). In fact, it almost grossed me out to see everyone eating such big portions. . .LOL!

Yesterday morning I was down another 1/2 lb and thought for sure it would appear again this morning on the scale - but it didn't and I am SO happy! It's literally the first time in my life that the scale wasn't UP the day after Thanksgiving! And for that, I am extremely thankful!

How was YOUR Turkey Day?

Pamela! Congrats....and I'm right there with you! I'm at goal, I just reached it earlier this month, and for the first time in my life I was not stuffed Thanksgiving day! I ate, was satisfied....did not at all feel deprived and that was that!! Three days later and I'm weighing less and trying to add in more calories, this maintaining stuff is harder than I thought! Go figure! LOL

Thanksgiving for me was wonderful, I'm thankful for this new opportunity I have, this new "tool". I love it!!

I hope you are feeling a little better by now. I wanted to ask if you'd send me a private message with the recipe for your crawfish dressing/stuffing. We are Native Texans...we lived in East Texas for 20 years and use to drive across the border for Cajun food!!! I've never had the stuff, but I've heard it is wonderful!! So, if you don't MIND sharing your recipe, this Texas girl would love to have it! :) Thanks....and good luck!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
