Kandi5912, how are you doing? Did you get your procedure done in Carmel? How did it turn out for you? Just beginning the process with St. Vincent's Bariatric. Any info you can give me is much appreciated.......Shoop-Schupp.

I am in Bloomington and am seeing Dr. Ray at his new surgery center. I have my last nutrition class this week so I am hoping to schedule surgery soon. At last appointment he said we should be able to have it done before the end of the month... I am getting excited.

Amy, I sent you a private message but I am not sure if you know how to access them yet. I was banded by Dr. Ray on November 27th and have had 2 fills with him since. if you have any questions or just want to get together to talk about the band let me know!

Thanks! I will let you know how things go. I am sure the questions will come too! I am scheduled to be banded on Tuesday. I still haven't told anyone but my husband. I am getting use to the "light meals" and no Snacks. Bought a bunch of liquids for the next few weeks last night so I am feeling like I am ready. Its hard to believe that its just around the corner!:biggrin2:

oh that is so exciting- how soon it is! I went to a seminar last march and it took until the end of November for everything to clear. his office and staff are all so nice. I am a manager over at Yogis Bar and Grill and haven't told anyone I work with about the surgery. it isn't easy being around so much food, fried food, all of the time. have you ever been there?

Yes, Yogis has been one of our favorites. I guess its time to kiss it good bye at least for several months and them maybe I might be able to have a bite of my husbands. If its not too bad:wink2: I am looking forward to the future and Hope I will have the success you have. Do you feel like a new person already?

haha. the only thing I eat there now it veggie chili and cottage cheese. shockingly good, together even. I do feel like a new person. it has gotten to the point where everyone has made a comment about my weight loss. and i cant lie- I love it! however, this isn't easy. My brother was banded in Houston a year and a half ago and in the first month he lost 40 lbs. I was expecting rapid weight loss just like he had. Dr. Ray is more conservative with fills and such but he is very focused on losing weight in a healthy way. do you know what size band he is giving you? I was wearing a size 24/22 last year at this time and now I can get into a 12. it is amazing how the body changes. good luck on your transformation! what kinds of liquids have you bought?

I have my pre op appt Monday, I will ask about the band size. I would rather do this the healthy way. I can't imagine losing 49 lbs since the end of Nov. You are an inspiration. I would be thrilled with those results. I am currently the same as you started... 22/24, to think that in 3-4 months I could be fitting in a 12 or even a 14/16 in beyond belief to me. I stocked up on chicken and Beef broth, Ensure light, Special K Protein Water, Slim fast, and some light juice. I admit I am a bit nervous about the first few weeks and cant wait be be able to throw some cottage cheese back into the mix.

I have only lost about 25 lbs since surgery. was wearing a size 18 at surgery date.I lost everything else in the 6month diet. since being banded I also go to curves everyday on the east side. leaving to go there in just a bit. from my experience the ensure caffelatte is the best flavor! I still drink 1 every morning even though it isnt low carb.

I went on a cruise [pre band planned] 10 days after I got my stitches out- so I was still in the mushie food stage. that was not so fun. but it goes by so fast. I cant believe I am almost 90 days out.

FrancesMP,

Yep - Dr. McEwen did my surgery last week. I did self pay and actually thought it was very reasonable compared to others I'd seen. Also, his office is literally within walking distance of my home (when it's above freezing anyway), so that made it all the more worth it to me. I highly recommend Dr. McEwen - he is friendly and laid back, his office staff is wonderful, his office is small and private (unlike the ZOO at St. Vincent's when I was looking into GB) and he does his surgeries at the Community Surgery Center right by his office - where the staff treats you like you came there for a spa treatment!!

I'm a fan and am happy to answer any questions from Hoosier friends thinking about Dr. McEwen.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
