Finished pre-op testing yesterday!

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I went for my testing yesterday...here in St. Louis they have it set up to do it all in one morning....I went from one through to five tests in 2 hours...very organized!!!! The tests I did were, Psch eval, NUT appt, EKG, Stress test, chest exray. The psch eval was nothing! Only ten minutes and basic questions, I guess I had the idea they would ask,'why are you a chubby person???HUM???" I guess not...yea! Also I was nervous about the stress test, not a big deal at all.....took about 10mins tops! The goal was to get my heart rate upto between 145 and 175....they kept moving up the incline and it was quick! I don't thing I need to do any thing else until the blood tests close to surgery....now I wait until approval from INS....we have Cigna...any ideas how long? So I'm figuring Jan for surgery...I have two young daughters and want the holidays out of the way!!!! Yippee...thanks for all the info here!!!! Tracy

Yay! good job getting through those tests quickly -- I went through them quickly too and was very surprised that nothing bad came out of them (my family has a history of heart problems) -- so hooray!! Sorry, have no idea about the insurance, but at least you're done with the testing :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
