Any January Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Not long to go now and i'm starting to get really nervous. I actually broke down in tears today for no reason at all. I just hope i have an easy recovery like some people do and not have to suffer the excess pain and nausea. Last time i had surgery i was throwing up for 12 hours afterwards, i don't want to have to deal with that with my new smaller stomach.

My husband obviously hasn't listened to me for the last year while i've been talking about this surgery. I was trying a dressing gown on and it was tight across the tummy and he says 'what are you worrying about, it won't be there (my tummy) after the surgery when they remove most of it'.

What?!!! Did he really think i was going to have my external belly removed?

Everything i say to him goes in one ear and out the other.

He thinks this is another gimmick to lose weight, that i will lose some weight and then re-gain it all and then some. He has seen all the quick fixes i have tried in the past and thinks this will be the same. I can only hope to prove him wrong.

I will be in the clinic for a week with no internet access and i won't be able to wait to get back home to check up on the rest of the january sleevers and compare notes.

I'm sorry your husband seems like he's not with it on this. i hope he'll be supportive!!!! of course, only you know how things work around your house!

being at the clinic for a week actually sounds like a good idea -- i'm in and out in 2 days if all goes well.

11 days 'til my surgery -- yikes!!!!!!!!! good, good luck and keep posting 'til you're off on your great adventure. this is NOT an easy way out of weight loss and you deserve to get all good things from it!!!!!

I can't call the doctor until Jan. 3rd (having to wait for my short-term dis. to kick in) so I know I have a long way to go in this process. I will be self-pay since my insurance does not cover any part of any WLS. I was curious if anyone has an idea of what time frame I'm looking at since I don't have to go through the insurance coverage process? Thanks.

From my decision to get a sleeve to having a surgical date was a little over 3 weeks. Self-pay is great!

Anninva, thanks for the support. My husband is worried about me having surgery, i had a very bad reaction the last time and he doesn't want to have to go through that again (neither do i!)

I am going in to the hospital in 12 hours and will have the op the next day so this is the last you will see of me until about 9 days. Anyone who reads this please keep me in your prayers for everything to go smoothly and i will do the same for everyone on this thread.

My TOM decided to show up tonight so it will be in full force by surgery time! Just what i need, as if handling surgery isn't enough. If they give me blood thinners i can't imagine the consequences.

I keep thinking i haven't packed something important but my bag is full so what else is there? I will stop on the way to pick up some magazines.

I've been rushing around all week trying to sort out the family and animals and will be lost the first day just sitting around waiting but i could do with the rest. In the last 2 weeks i've had a new built house to clean and move into and unpack and had 25 guests for dinner yesterday so its been all go but at least it took my mind off of things.

I'm rambling now, can you tell i'm nervous and excited. I still won't believe its actually going to happen until i wake up from surgery, i've had so many delays and postponements.

Good luck to all and meet you on the other side!

Hi Anninva,

I feel your freaing out. Today is Wedesday, and I fly to San Diego on Sunday, for Surgery on Monday the 10th. May we each have an easy, safe operation and recovery. Where are you having your surgery done? We need to stay in touch. I just want this waiting over! Becky

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
