My 1st Reconstructive Surgery

Recommended Posts

Believe it or not, it's not a TT or panni removal. It's not even to get rid of those pesky batwings. I am having surgery on my upper eyelids.

I have a condition called Xantholasma. Basically it means I have "fat pads" on my eyelid. It's a cholesterol issue.

You can see the "bumps" in the pic below. When my eyes are open, expecially when I am being expressive, they pop out and show more. They have also started to interfere with my vision.

As a medicall condition, insurance pays for the removal, but that would leave my 54 yr old eyelids tight where they were removed but still wrinkly with excess skin everywhere else. So, for $3,500. I cover the difference to have the entire lid tightened on each eye.

I am scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday and will have black eyes for Thanksgiving. LOL

I wanted to let anyone else with this condition know that it is covered by most insurance, if you're interested.

I'll post some pics after surgery to show how it looks. Then I will post again after the healing is finished to show the final result.

Wish me luck, it's a lil scary having someone cut on your face!

I had a friend who just had this done 3 weeks ago. She looks great now, (of course I didn't see her bruises for almost 3 weeks since her surgery was the same day as my VSG...she is an older woman that I work out with at Curves), and she also paid extra (not covered by insurance) to have something done about the area below her eye (they were sort of puffy before.) Doesn't look like you have the under eye problem. :)

Funny thing my grandma just had a consultation about a little growth that was in her line of vision and the doctor is going to remove the excess skin on her eyes also since there is so much of it and it is hurting her vision also. Her insurance is going to cover it. I was like SCORE! LOL.

This is what I looked like the afternoon of surgery. Ohhhhh, pretty! As you can guess, the bruising is spreading. LOL I'll post more pics once I heal up.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
