29 Years Old & Getting the Sleeve

Recommended Posts

I am 29 years old with a BMI of 34. I refuse to tell anyone other than my husband and mother about my decision to get the WLS. I don't want to be judged. I feel I judged myself enough ( ALWAYS IN THE NEGATIVE ) that I don't need to hear it from others. On the other hand this is a big deal and I need to share with someone. So I thank all of you for your posts and experience. It is appreciated.

I am 22 and I am scheduled for the surgery in February 2011. I have told my family and some of my closest friends but to tell you the truth I'm not ashamed or embarrased for having it I am just thinking of it as me bettering myself for my 2 year old daughter. I want to be able to take her to the park and play with her with out feeling like a big whale, or running out of breath evertime she wants me to chase her. I do understand that some things are personal and you have the right to tell who you want to tell I hope you have a successful and fullfilling journey.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was wondering if there are many people my age out there doing this procedure.

Hey Texas where are you getting your sleeve? I will get in Feb 2011 with Dr. Aceves in Mexico.

Thank you for the reassurance. I was wondering if there are many people my age out there doing this procedure.

I was 29 when I was sleeved...recently turned 30 and have kept my VSG private aside from immediate family.

I'm 23, and will hopefully have the procedure done in December.

I made the decision to be VERY open about my surgery. But, I think that's half because my mom had it done... and we work at the same place.... so it's not as such a big shock as if she didn't tell people

I was very open and told everyone at first. To be honest I kinda regret that enough to say it would have been more fun to not tell. People don't really want to know. I realized that after a while.

HI Secret Surgery, I am 29 (30 Dec 4th) and I hope to have my surgery scheduled for around February or March. I'm in Sacramento CA and will be going through Kaiser to have mine done - where are you located? :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
