Mother Is Helping During Post-Op Period

Recommended Posts

I'm a Newbie to the Group..

4 Days Post - Op Surgery

I wanted to thank everyone for being so gracious with their wealth of knowledge and it's amazing how I've been able to read something that has been beneficial to me,regardless of the topic.

I am a single woman with no children and when my Mom found out about my surgery she came to support me for the first 2 weeks post surgery...Here's my question..how many people had someone to help them during this period and did it help with your recovery or are you one of those people that wanted to be left alone to figure it out on your own.

My only concern at this point is the lack of a bowel movement since the day prior to surgery and my difficulty with getting the amount of Protein and fluids in daily..

Thanks in advance for any advice that is given.

I have not had my surgery yet (five more days yea!!) but I had originaly planed on doing this on my own ( I am also single with no children) but the second my mother found out I was having surgery she said she was comming out (it must be a mother thing they cant help but take care of their children) I kinda had mixed emotions about this because I am a very indepent person not very good at asking for help plus I was not sure how well I would handel her eating infront if me but most of all I feel bad because I am not going to be any fun, I live in Vegas and any time I have some one come out I try to show them a good time. But then I realized tat it really will be nice to have some help around the house, then I figured that I may as well get used to having people eat around me and having food around me when I cant eat since I work in a kitchen, as for keeping her entertaind I recently bought a houe and she really seams to want to do yeard work and painting so if that is what is going to keep her happy then she can have at it plus I did get some tickets to some shows hopefully I will have enough energy to sit throught them. Good luck with your surgery

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
