Can someone PLS help me find a surgeon?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been to two diff bariatric surgeons. I am in need to find a good dr. I have insurance so that is not a prob. Does anyone recomend a surgeon in the plano, carrollton, dallas tx area? I am tired of getting the run and around. I tried Dr nick from the Nicholson Clinic, and due to his rude and condescending office staff (Lisa) I will no longer be going to him. I had my heart set on him bc ive read such great reviews and he was extremely nice. But I do not tolerate ppl disrespecting me and bc of her I will not be using him =/

I am frustrated and sad. I need to find another dr and I just cant seem to find another one that is close, offers support groups, and great customer service. Ive been to seminar after seminar and quite frankly I am all burnt out from seminars. I just want to find a dr.

Any help in this area would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks !! :)

I highly recommend Dr. David D Kim in Colleyville. He did my band to sleeve revision on 9/27 and I am doing great.

He is EXTREMELY compassionate and understanding. His office staff have been nothing but great. Plus, he performs his surgeries at Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas. What a great hospital!!!! It was a great experience (hospital wise) and I would definitely go back there again if ever needed.

Dr. Kim's website is www.drdkim.net. Check it out and give him a call. I don't think you will be disappointed....I am definitely not!!!

I was referred to Dr. Manuel Castro by another member of this forum. His front office is okay. His wife is the office manager and she knows her job is secure, so don't expect special treatment.

It's important to remember, you aren't looking for a friend, you are looking for a QUALIFIED and SKILLED surgeon with experience. Stay AWAY from Frank Felts he just started doing sleeves and won't admit how many he has actually done. I've asked him myself because I was considering using him prior to meeting Dr. Castro and he was worse than a car salesmen, no direct answers.

I went to Dr. Castro and loved him. I would highly recommend him. His office staff was wonderful and very helpful and they always get back to me immediatly if I have any questions. They made sure my paperwork was submitted and right the first time. If you want more infor on him lsend me a pm. BUT... I can't say enough good things about him.

I am working with dr. Davidson's office out of the bariatric surgery center in Dallas. He does surgeries at forest park medical center and Presbyterian. The staff has all been friendly and helpful. They never make me feel dumb about any question and they seem truly excited about each step with me. Many of the staff have had some type of wls. The first consult is pay/not free, but I felt it was well worth it as I got to talk to and meet the surgeon, RN, the insurance coordinator, and another person who presented a seminar and answered all our questions. I haven't had surgery yet, but I feel that I am in competent hands so far.

Hi love.star. I got the surgery from Dr Nicholson on Nov 17th and went through their Dallas office which is on North I75 and Park. The whole office there is great. I don’t recall anyone there named Lisa, but all of the staff has been nothing but courteous and accommodating. Also I have been reading the board for a while now in preparation. When the time actually came I was as most people are, a little nervous. However Dr. Nicholson exceeded all of my expectations. No complications and complete details on what to expect and the whole procedure. At least for me, they really made me feel at ease. Anyway, this is just my experience and I wanted to share.

Dr. Wade Barker did my lap-band and my revision to the sleeve. He's an EXCELLANT surgeon. He uses Forest Park Medical center, which I highly recommend. In addition to my revision, Dr. Barker did the following during the same surgery: fixed an undiagnosed hiatal hernia, removed my gall bladder (had been having problems with it for about a yr) and cleaned out tons of adhesions I had from 5 previous abdominal surgeries.

Dr. Barker has many years of experience in laproscopic surgery. He started out as a general surgeon but now is primarily bariatric. His office will give you his stats on how many of each surgery he's done, complication rates, etc. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. My only complaint is that you have to wait quite a while before appointments sometimes. But to me, that's not an issue if the doctor and staff are good.

A couple of weeks post-op I had a hematoma develop where my lapband port had been. It caused one of my incisions to open up. Dr. Barker was in surgery that day, so they told me to go straight to the hospital. Dr. Barker came in as soon as I got there and took care of my problem. The follow-up care in his office was very good.

I hate to do this, but I'm going to have to say to NOT use Dr. Glenn Ihde. He is new to the bariatric business. When I was in the hospital after my VSG, we met another patient who he had done WLS on and totally screwed up. They had to have another doctor "fix" whatever he had done. Also, I took my 18yr old son to him for abdominal pain (he's on my insurance) and after a colonoscopy he wanted to remove part of my son's colon. We went to someone else for a second opinion and they said there was nothing wrong with my son other than spastic colon and that the problem Dr. Ihde said my son had could not even be diagnosed with a colonoscopy. I've lost all trust in the man now.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
