My surgeon said to go ahead and stop taking the pecid yesterday. I was only taking 1 pill at night. Anyway, I didn't take one last night and my stomach feels really weird...I sort of feel sick to my stomach. How did you feel once you stopped pepcid (or something like it)? Just wondering :)...thanks for your help.

have you been taking it every day since your surgery? I was getting it in my IV in the hospital, but I wasn't told to take it at home. When I felt I needed it, I took it, and I did feel more settled in my stomach, but in general I've sorta had an icky feeling. Maybe I should be taking it more regularly. Hmmm..... Yesterday when I saw my doc, I asked if it was okay to take pepcid or tums if I had an icky feeling stomach, and he said yes. But he said if I start having acid reflux symptoms that are more severe I have to tell him, because some people need to go on a regular prescription. (I guess like nexium or something similar) Hmmm... Good luck. Maybe give it a few days before you call him?

Yes I've been taking them since the day of my surgery. At my post op he said to stop taking them at 6 weeks. I wonder why I just can't keep taking them if they make me feel better...I will be seen again on the 21st. But if my tummy still has this yucky feeling I may start them up again.

Thanks!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
