Recommended Posts

I went to my Dr. about 2 weeks ago and he told me that it look like my band had slipped and also have a hiatal hernia. I have no fill in my band but food still get stucks in my esophagus somtimes and my stomach feels like it is on fire sometimes, I drank lemonade today and it almost killed my stomach so do you guys think i might have a stomach ulcer along with all the other, i am worried that there may be erosion or something worse, am i just paranoid or what? Please i need advice.

Thanks

it sure does not sound good that is for sure. I would go back to hte doctor and ask to be checked for erosion and see if after the unfill the band is back where it is suppose to be. hope you get better soon.

wk,

I think your symptoms can totally be explained by your situation, that is a slip with a hiatal hernia. The good news is, once it's fixed you'll be good as new!

Good luck,

How do you know if your band has slipped? Does that happen often? I have a really bad burning sensation if I move the wrong way or bend. It is not near an incision, it this just a nerve, that needs to heal? I am three weeks post op. No fever, everything else is great. All my incisions have healed great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
