Hi all!

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured "Hey, I'm post-op; why not!"

Here is my grand idea; tell me what you think!?

My mom's dying wish was to one day open her own restaurant!

I got to thinking! With this new tool and unable to really go to normal restaurants and really eat healthy small size portions bc really the kids menu isn't screaming, "low carb, low calorie!" What if I open a WLS restaurant for people like us and call it the "Loser's Eats" or something??! :001_smile:

The menu would have our size portions and next to that it would have "normal" size portions. There could be a 2 upgrade charge and if the wanted to add Pasta, rice or bread charge a 1.75 more! (We'd call it the 1.75 pick your poison!) LOL! Oh and since we can't drink during our meals, offer a to go of their chose of crystal light, Water or Decaf tea! Just a fun idea to think about!

OMG! Could you open your second franchise here?? The closest restaurant to me has one pound hamburgers as its staple item. There are no healthy places around here. There used to be a vegetarian cafe but it didn't fly. The healthiest thing around here are Wendy's salads and they are a long way from what I need to eat now.

Maybe I can be your first franchisee!:wink0:

I think that is an excellent idea! You could even have sub-categories on the menu for stuff that fits into mushy-stage.... refried Beans done up with some taco sauce and cheese, the ricotta bake kind of stuff, etc.... of course you'd have to have regular menu items or people won't think they can take their families there, but I think WLS people would be beating the door down!

I think it could definitely fly in a large city, where the clientele is big enough. I definitely wish I could go to normal restaurants and have a small serving - it seems the only places that serve small amounts are overpriced French restaurants. Something affordable would be nice.

I think you should call it Wanda's onederland cafe (or whatever your mom's name was, in her honor). Onederland, because the 100's seem to be the healthiest weights to be in, no matter the height (at least for women who make most of the decisions to dine

out.) Or Barry's Bar (for healthy bariatric eating...) GO FOR IT! Great way to honor your mom's wish.

you could make it like a tappas type restaurant so that all people could go there but then have a special mushy/liquid menu for us

Do you know that just today I was wishing eDiets or something like that offered a post bariatric plan. I know they can't because all you have to do is read here for 15 minutes and you know that every doctor's plans/orders are different. But I think this is a great idea. I know that I'd be there. It would be nice to have a place where you fit it without explanation.

Please make sure to include shot size drinks. I just need a few sips of my favorite drink with my food. I feel horrible ordering one that I take 3 sips of and leaving the rest.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
