Two week weigh in!

Recommended Posts

I went to my doctor today and weighed in! I have lost 15 pounds since surgery. I was seen the week before surgery at same doctors office and weighed in on same scale, so I am totally jazzed at my initial weight loss.

14 days and 15 pounds wooot woot. Not too bad for a low BMI'er :confused1:

WTG. you're right for a low BMIer that's awesome. Now the trick will be not to expect that next time. It will slow down, and as long as you are mentally prepared for that, you will do well.

I am so glad things are going so well for you this time. Best of luck to you.

Thank you Thank you :: bows:: hehe.

I am feeling really great actually, I started feeling tons better on day 10 or so when I started taking Prilosec. The tummy stopped gurgling and rolling. Now I can actually feel when I get hungry which is like every three hours. I am playing it conservative and putting maybe 3 oz at a time and sometimes not even that. I am having muscle milk shakes as a Protein drink in the a.m and I can start on pretty much anything mushy or put into a blender now. I have one more week then I can start the regular foods and I am too freaked out I may wait an additional week. I just am having such a good recovery I do not want to push it at all. I also have been able to sleep in my bed since I came home from having surgery, I think that the good sleep also helps. I have a 4 inch memory foam topper that allowed me to sleep on my side and tummy right away. It sort of just pillowed it. That was a blessing.

I am going to start on September 1st to do some light walking on the treadmill at the gym and get into a routine of going daily after I drop my kids at school. My cousin is a personal trainer there and she can't wait to get me into her bootcamp lol but that will have to wait.

I know my weight loss is not going to continue at the rate of the 1st two weeks and I am okay with that. I am actually not really concerned with my weight loss at this point. I just want to continue to heal and I know the weight loss is inevitable. I didn't put on this weight over night :confused1:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
