I bought pants 3 sizes smaller than usual today

Recommended Posts

When I had my surgery 7/16/10 I wore size 24W pants. Today I bought a pair of capris and a pair of jeans size 18. Those 18s are not loose, but I've worn much tighter clothes before! I thought about 16s but decided not to push it, lol.

So even though I haven't lost as much weight as I think I should, obviously *something* is working out right! ; D

What a GREAT DAY this has been! :)

WOW! I am so proud of you. Feels great, doesn't it??? Just think ... those 18's will be falling off soon enough & you'll be looking at the 14's (and smaller)!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure hope so! A couple of obstacles have been thrown down my path, but I am determined to get past them. 1. This morning person is going to have to work overnights starting the 22nd, so that ought to be interesting. I'm telling myself it gives me better time to workout. 2. The Chantix I take is making me sick to my stomach no matter when I take it, so it's looking like either I give up Chantix and muscle through the rest of my smoking cessation or I keep puking up Water a couple of times a day. But honestly, that is the only thing about this surgery I am sad about! So, guess it's all good, right?

Thanks for the support. Guess I will stop being so reliant on what the scale says and just pay attention to what my body is saying! The last time I lost a lot of weight it took me a year to get to size 14...and now it's within sight so quickly. Simply amazing. Of course my torso hasn't lost as much as my waistline (I'm a lovely apple...always have been) but heck, I did buy a couple of tops 2 sizes smaller. Good enough for me right now! :)

I'm a not-narrow-in-the-middle hourglass. I had my surgery 2 days before you and was also in a 24W pant and I still cannot wear my 22's comfortably. I'm happy for you! Hope to be there soon too.

That is fantastic!! Around 3-4 weeks out I stalled on the scale but my clothes showed the reality. The scale began going down again soon enough and I can't believe the results! I am so happy for you! That is an amazing accomplishment, and you will find yourself "yippee-ing" out loud in the dressing room more often! If anyone looks at you weird when you come out, just smile knowing there are many more yipees to come!

Hang in there...you'll be there SOON! :)

Thanks Jamey...I'm not really caring about the scale right now but I'll be honest and say I do want to get to my goal weight, so there's not quite 90 lbs to lose. Better than what I started out at for sure!

tdov, I'm saving you a spot on the loser's bench!

lol on the don't get used to size 18.

My closet is getting empty. Sorted and am giving away the clothes I absolutely cannot wear anymore. What a nice feeling this is!

Now if only I could get dh to go through his clothes, our closet might become manageable. HOW do we end up with so many clothes? :biggrin0:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
