New heavyweight here. Lapband in 2007 at 385 pounds. Lost 100. Regained about 60. Sleeve surgery last Monday, August 30. Just saying hello at this point.

Welcome! I hope your surgery recovery is going well.

I read this thread last night and was so pleasantly surprised at the positive comments everyone was making about people with low BMI's. I thought I might not want to read it as it would be a low BMI bashing thread lol. I know I know I should have more faith in you wonderful people by now! So congratulations to those who are getting the surgery and wonderful job to those who had it and have used it to reach amazing goals.

I'm only 5'2" on a good day ! ! ! Being short really has it's advantages once you lose your weight, seriously, people think I am so "petite and tiny". I've never been called tiny in my life, and it's kind of crazy when I look at my before pictures. . .

Plus, being short makes buying jeans in smaller sizes so much easier. Skinny jeans come in the perfect length for us vertically challenged ! ! !

Tiff - I've never been called petite because I'm 5.6 and a half, but in the past week I've been called SKINNY or LITTLE three times!!!!!! I weigh 157.5 as of this morning!!! I've NEVER in my life been called either. I really don't know how to take this....it's really neat, but at the same time, I don't know how to respond, and when I look at myself, that is NOT what I see. This is all new to me. It's definitely a NSV I guess!! Congrats to you.....you are for sure, petite and tiny!! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
