This is just like the cabbage Soup diet i've done oh about 100 times or so. It never fails, after day one i am already sick of the soup and starving by day 3 and overeating by the next day. I did know one woman who lost over 40lbs as she did it for 4-6 months. I thought she was dying (seriously) and asked if she'd been sick - very pale and just sickly. It will work in the short term but unfortunately you will put the weight right back on plus a few more because your body is starving. The only diet that worked for me ONCE (and never worked again) was the scarsdale diet. I lost 14lbs in two weeks but never ever could successfully do it again. Of course I gained that 14 lbs back + more. DIETS don't work - sensible cutting of 500 calories a day through exercise or food elmination is the ONLY thing that works. good luck

I dont see how you would be starving with this diet when you can eat as much as you want? The Soup sounds good and I like veggies....I could really see me able to do this for the one week.

Amy, I think I'm going to try this. Will start when I get back home and have time to go shopping. I keep thinking, I could be 199 by the end of a week on this diet...how I would LOVE that!

Just wanted to say sorry if my earlier email sounded snooty about the diet - i wish you luck, truly. P.s. the only reason i was hungry is cuz i got sick of the Soup fast.

Hey Everyone!

I have heard that the cabbage Soup didn't taste very good. I think that is why they kinda re-did & this Soup so that it tastes yummy!! I actually WANT to eat it & so does my daughter. My daughter has always been a picky eater & doesn't like ANYTHING, but she likes this! :)

If anyone is wanting to know, the seasonings I added to my soup were salt & pepper, garlic salt, curry powder & worshtershire(sp?) sauce. I don't have a clue how much I put of each, I just did it to taste.

Mary -I am sure people have gained some of the weight back if they started eating normal again after being on this diet. However, because I have the band, I am hoping that gaining the weight back won't be like pre-band days. Once the week is up, I plan on kicking all the bandster rules into gear & keeping the weight loss. We'll see how it goes. I figure this diet can't hurt anything because it's all healthy foods!!

Funny, I know that you don't have the band yet, so this will be interesting to see how it all works with each of us. We'll be the gineau pigs for everyone else!! I'll test this diet as a person WITH the band. You test this diet as a person WITHOUT the band. :biggrin1: So far, I am lovin' it!!

Here's to another bowl of soup!!!! :hungry:

Just had to add...

This Soup doesn't go right through the band like normal soup does. It stops at the band & stays there for a good 3 hrs. I am truly stuffed after one bowl!! I think it's because it is packed full of large vegetables that you have to chew, chew, chew. It's perfect for bandsters to eat!!

Oh it is so full of veggies!! I barely have any liquid in the bowl when I get a bowl of Soup LOL I agree that it fills you up and you are good for a few hours.

On the cabbage soup diet (from what I heard) the soup tasted just awful!!! A lot of people thought "Well of course i am going to lose weight. I don't want to eat the only thing I am allowed to eat!" I don't know if that is going to happen with this. Plus I really plan on filling up with the other stuff. On beef days I got me a few nice steaks. Some chicken too. And I got some gorgeous asparagas, some artichokes, a few really nice melons, some papaya and mango... I got a lot of stuff that I know to be full of Vitamins and stuff that would be a real treat for me. And I got nothing canned except for the broth and the chicken noodle soup LOL I like all of my ingredients fresh. I think it gives you more nutrients, and feels better eating it. I had a BLAST making the soup.

The stuff I added to the soup was some basil, and about 1.5 cups of parsley, and some pepper. Thats it. Garlic would be good. I will try that next.

Emily can't wait for you to join us. I mean yeah...this is a fad diet. But my nutritionist has told me that it is one of the better ones out there. You are not limiting calories. Not even intake. You are limiting types of food. And the food you are allowed is really good for you. So I feel ok trying the fad. :)

That really is the beauty of the band isnt it? You may regain a little when you go back to eating normally but you're not likely to have a rebound 14lb gain or anything.

I must admit, I've been resistant to "dieting" with my band but my weight loss is soooooo slow now, its really frustrating. I'm within a bees dick of really being able to shop anywhere and I just cant get that next 14lb off. I might give this a try too - I've got a formal do on in six weeks and I need to find something to wear. I squeezed my fat ass into a size 14 dress in a boutique today (it was stretchy) but let me say, just because I can get into it, doesnt mean I should wear it!

I lost another lb. today!! And, I have to admit - I had some ranch dressing on my salad AND with my veggies to dip them in. I was doing good until I had to go to a dinner meeting. I chose good foods, but wished I had my Soup to eat. The ranch dressing was calling my name.

My daughter has lost a total of 3 lbs!

I think I am going to have to give this a try. I would love to lose a pound-it would put me under "onederland" I guess I could substitute chicken for beef. ( I don't eat beef) Wish me luck.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
