3 days post op with a slight fever

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am three days post op and I am feeling better, but I just took my temp and it was 100.5 now its 99.9 My doctor said to call him if it gets above 101. I think I might have overdone it with activities today but I was just wondering if anyone else had this. My pain level has gone way down, I'm just really sore. I had gallbladder out, lapband out and was sleeved all in one day. I think that's why my pain was a little more than others I read about on here.

Take it easy, stay hydrated and keep an eye on that temp. If it gets too high call your dr. Take care.

I agree with Maddie.... do take it easy... you're only 3 days out and while you feel better each day it is still very early days.

If that temp creeps up make sure you call your Dr - an increased temp can be a sign for infection or leaks, so its not worth risking anything. I had to record mine for the first 10 days along with blood pressure.

I am three days post op as well. I was running a fever and my blood pressure has jumped to a dangerous level. They gave me something to reduce the fever though. I know what you mean about bouncing back after a revision (didnt have my galllbladder out). I am having a hard time adjusting and drinking. Let me know what you end up doing.

I spoke with my doctor last nite and he said to take advil and tylenol and keep an eye on my temp. I did that last nite and my fever is gone. I just took it this morning and it was normal.

As far as getting adjusting to drinking I haven't really had a problem but I think I might be getting some spasms if I drink to fast but I am really having to make an effort to take smaller sips. I just try to do 3 to 4 sips and then put it down and try again in a few minutes. I don't know what liquids you are using but I love crystal light fruit punch. I also find that hot tea really feels great going down.

I hope your pressure goes down and fever goes away soon, keep me posted.

I ran a low grade fever for the first 5 days. I remember feeling like the flu was coming on. I believe I was very dehydrated.

I had this exact same thing: an on-again, off-again, low-grade fever for about 4-5 days.

By the time I hit about a week out, it went away and stayed gone. My surgeon said it is very, very normal, and only to worry if it spiked over 101 and stayed there (or if I started vomiting/bleeding/passed out/etc.)

Don't worry about it. Just take your pain meds, drink what Water you can (sip, sip, sip), walk as much as you can, and focus on getting better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
