I had this problem about two weeks post op. My doc kept me on my blood pressure meds and those, in addition to not being able to get all my liquids in caused severe dehydration and extremely low BP. When I went in to see the doc, the lowest BP sitting down was 80/45. Every time I stood up, my vision would go black, I'd get dizzy and I think just by sheer force of WILL (knowing someone would have to haul my arse off the floor if I passed out) I managed to keep from passing out. They put me in the hospital to rehydrate me, took me off my BP meds and I've not had a problem since.

Crazy!!! This happens to me ALL THE TIME. I have never fully passed out, but when I stand from laying I am super dizzy and off balanced and have run into the wall and almost fallen down. I'm going to try these tips. Thanks!

Guys, i have my surgery scheduled on Aug 16th and this is freaking me out. I am scared. :)

Don't be freaked out. Not every single patient experiences this, so do not let this one temporary side effect scare you out of surgery.

These things happen, it's better to know about, and be prepared so when/if it does occur you are not taken by surprise.

This is not life threatening, this is a benign condition and is directly related to the fact that I dropped a huge amount of weight in 8 months. We're talking about 135lbs in that time period so remember my body went through major changes.

Something has to give, something has to clue us in that something is off. I admittedly was being a scale whore, and avoiding sodium at all costs. I was barely getting in the recommended mg per day of sodium to avoid Water weight.

Lesson learned, I shared my experience so others could learn from it, or seek medical attention if they were suffering the same symptoms.

It's temporary. It's not going to land me back in the hospital.

PLease don't be scared. I have just come home from eating out with friends, see normal life carrying on here. Please do this surgery, it's the best thing for us who can't sustain a diet.

Sanama, please don't let this scare you away from the surgery. I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat for the benefits of the weight loss.

I appreciate your response and encouraging words. I think I will stop worrying about these things at this time. I am just two weeks away from the surgery. I am really looking forward to this now.

Thanks everyone.... for support.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
