Has anyone felt like they aren't...

Recommended Posts

Has anyone felt like they weren't loosing as fast as they should? I weighed well over 300 lbs, and have over 100 lbs to loose, and feel like I should be just shedding weight. I know I don't exercise like I should, and I plan to, I just don't have the energy yet. My husband and I are looking into joining a gym, so we can go swimming or work out (especially during the heat of the day). I just feel like I haven't really cheated, and am taking in so little compared to what I used to...I know everyone is different, but I really feel like I should be losing more! Anyone else feel this way? I mean, it's been 6 weeks to the day for me, and I've lost 38 lbs...more than I've ever done before, but also less than I've ever eaten before. Let me know what you guys think...have you ever felt like that?

I felt that way also. It has been Wed will be 2 months and I have lost a little over 50 pounds. I think that we are just impatient and we have been wanting this so long that waiting and taking it slow is hard for us. I am in the same boat where I need to lose well over 100 pounds and I am just now starting to see the weight loss after 2 months and 50 pounds. I think once we see the difference it will make it worth it. We just have to hang in there until then.

I know exactly how y'all feel! I've only lost 29 lbs and had surgery on May 18th. I just started real exercise today!!!!! When I went for my 6 wk ck up the PA told me not to compare myself to others. She said I was right on track! I wish my weight was peeling off too, but she reminded me the avg. weight loss is 70% of your loss in the first year. I know many others loss faster, but I'm still keeping my chin up and... trudging the road of Happy Destiny! Good Luck to all!

I think I will make you all feel a lot better when I tell you I have lost 25 pounds in 4 months! I'm a real lightweight, but I still thought I'd lose a lot faster than I have been. Since the first few weeks I've been losing steadily at just under a pound a week, which I find really disappointing.

On the bright side, though, I haven't been able to exercise much because of my schedule, and I haven't been hungry at all (although I have grappled with "head hunger" from time to time). I find that I lose better if I concentrate on getting all my Protein in, even if that means my calories are a little higher than they might be otherwise.

Bottom line: It's not magic, and we didn't put the weight on overnight and it's silly to expect to lose it overnight. I've been working really hard on having an attitude of gratitude that the scale is moving consistently, if slowly, in the right direction. And I have a very high level of confidence that every pound lost is gone for good, which I certainly never had on any diet before surgery!

Okay, I'm so glad this thread was posted because I'm feeling the same way. Even though I'm only a little over 2 weeks out, I dropped 18 pounds in less than 2 weeks, and now the scale hasn't moved in about 5 days. I know, I know..I'm super impatient! And I shouldn't compare myself to others. I have a feeling I'm not getting enough calories in and should probably start counting them diligently...

same here... I was thinking that I should be loosing weight much faster but iits steady. ive lost 45 lbs so far since april 14th, 2010. I'v cut down exercising to 4-5 days instead of 7 days . I was really over doing it. I was not allowing my muscles to heal. I just told myself that i should look forward to next year when the real results will reveal the truth. I try not to stress as much if I don't loose as fast. that will put weight on a person as well. thanks everyone..

Right there with y'all! I am six weeks out today and I have lost 27.5 pounds. I lost 7.5 pounds pre-op (only did 10 days low carb). I looked at my weigh in data from my doctor visit last week and realized that from my 9 day post op to my 5 1/2 week post op appt. (it was one month) I only lost 10 pounds, and that was my first month! I dropped a lot right out of the hospital, then it trickled off. I was out of town on business for a couple of weeks and then on vacation for about 9 days, so I think I really need to watch how the restaurants prepare my food. That and I have a lot of Water retention when I fly. Since I have been home (6 days) I have dropped almost 7 pounds. I am also finally starting to exercise, but I can't seem to find what I want to do. I have joined gyms in the past, but with my travel schedule, the last place I want to go is to the gym when I get home. I am thinking of buying a piece of exercise equipment for home, but, given my past history with such purchases, I want to make sure I will use it!

Hi - You have lost 38 pounds in 6 weeks... you need to give yourself a break and let your body catchup! If you keep taking in less calories eventually more weight will come off! Paula in FL

I'd just like to say: I love you all. I was thinking I hadn't lost enough either and I feel so much better to know I'm the only one.

My surgery was June 30 and by last Sunday (18 days), I had lost 11 pounds. I did lose about 20 lbs pre-op, but still. I'm just staying the course.

I'm a shorty (62") and had a bmi of 34 before surgery. Maybe it would be better to think of weight loss in terms of % of excess weight lost. My goal weight is 125, so I've already lost 18% of my excess weight since surgery. That sounds SOO much better than 11 pounds.

I keep telling myself that my body cannot keep up this weight on so few calories, so I will lose it eventually. It's just hard when you hear of people losing 55 pounds in 2 months.

Stay the course ladies, we'll get there.

... My weight loss seems to have slowed, but I don't think I'm eating enough quite yet to get my metabolism kick started. I have my first post-op check on Thursday so will have some hard questions for my surgeon.

Don't forget too to look at size as well as weight. I bought some new knickers at the weekend because all mine are toooo big now!

I was in UK size 22-24, but i bought a UK size 18 top at the weekend!

I keep trying on my 'hospital outfit', which is so big, it looks ridiculous!

Hi all,

Like most of you, I have times when I think "Why am I not losing more?" It doesn't help that my doctor wanted me to lose 30 to 45 lbs from my 1 month to my 3 month check up. Let's just say he will be disappointed.

Here's the thing - I haven't been this weight since I was in my early 20's. I feel better, I follow my diet religiously (maybe too religiously), and I exercise at the gym 3-4 days a week with a trainer (not to mention all the walking I do at work). My whole life I ate when I felt bad, sad, angry, guilty, etc. I will not return to those patterns. So forget the doctor - this is my weight loss journey! So I tell myself to chill out - it's not a race, it's a journey!

I will get there and so will you! So, stop pressuring yourselves - we all need to love ourselves and enjoy these changes. I don't know about you, but if I would have done this in the beginning, I wouldn't have had to have surgery in the first place.

:cursing:

I was sleeved on the 19th of May and have about 31 lbs off. It seems like everyone is experiencing the same slow at around week 3 or 4. Does anyone find that bad food is easier to eat than good? Also, right after my surgery i had so much energy, then at around week 4 I really got fatigued.

I feel that way every day.. I feel like I am working out every day -- 30 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 and 20 minutes on the elliptical. Why isn't my weight just coming off?

I was sleeved on June 29th and I have lost 21 pounds. So, this makes 3 weeks for me. I guess I should feel grateful -- whenever I dieted before I could only lose 3 pounds a month. But, I guess like my husband says -- I expected to leave the hospital and have lost all the weight!! lol

I am just incredibly impatient and like instant gratification!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
