Hi i'm very new here! I'm 18 and I have recently graduated high school. I'm young but I love this site and how its like a family and you guys encourage one another! Okay lets get to the stats I'm 5ft5in I weigh 246. I've pretty much been overweight my whole life...it runs in my family so I kinda had no way of escaping it. Not only have I been overweight but I lack confidence. I mean I feel pretty at times and smile a lot but I lack the confidence that a young lady suppose to have. I constantly compare myself to others. I also feel hurt that the fashion trends of today doesn't carry my size (1XL/20). Also its summer time before of my friends && I go our separate ways to college, there's so many swim parties I would love to go to but i lack confidence to put on swimsuit. Thats why I choose to have the gastric sleeve. Me & my mom talked about it and did all the consultations, meetings and things since November, insurance was approved...I will be a sleeved lady before school starts this fall:-)

Wow that is amazing that you are getting sleeved before college even starts. I though I was young sine I'm 23 but

you bet me. What dr are you doing to? Do you have a date set yet?

My doctor is Dr. Joseph Kuhn in Dallas. My date was pushed back because of test I had to take for college, but we are in the process of resetting. It will be this summer for sure.

That is so wonderful to hear. I don't know much about your dr but I'm sure this site has helped you just as much as it has helped me in research. There is nothing more powerful than word of mouth! I am getting a super sleeve in Mexico July 12th! I can't believe it is almost here!!

Welcome!! I wish you all the best on your weightloss journey. Remember why you are having the surgery (when you are feeling down) and be true to yourself. College is a wonderful experience... lots of work, memories, new experiences, and I wouldn't trade a single moment. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
