Iwas sleeved 6/22 and except for the usual incisinal pain all was right until this past friday. Now everything I eat causes pain. It almost feels like my stomach has spasams or is contracting or something like that.

I have not gone off my diet at all, on full liquids now. Even Water hurts now. confused.gif I am calling Kaiser Richmond tomorrow but was wondering if anyone else who is sleeved has had this happen?

Please let me know

Thanks

Sherri

Are you taking a PPI, like Nexium. I don't know if that's the answer, but I do know that some ppl have had discomfort and got relief with a PPI.

Make sure you take a PPI....30 minutes before eating anything.....that gives it time to go into your blood and shut off the acid response. This sounds like a classic acid response irritation.

There are people who have reported having stomach spasms. Dr. Aceves recommended people drink something warm to start out with to relax everything inside.

making sure you're on an acid reducer PPI is also very important, as Steve said.

I have had the spasms since the day of surgery (Monday). They are called Esophageal Spasms. It's the bottom part of your espophagus that is having spasms. I have them all the time.

The Dr. gave me a medicine called Levisil (spelling?)...which is a muscle relaxer and it helps TREMENDOUSLY.

The spasm (from all my researching and talking to people) will only last a maximum of a few weeks.

Yes, they are painful....but take that medicine religiously, and it works!!

I am 4 days post op and I have had them all day today. They hurt like heck...but knowing that they'll go away soon is what's helping me.

Good Luck hon....and ask for that medicine. You put it under your tongue and it dissolves. It's been a lifesaver for me!

Hey that's really good to know. I know a lot of people who have esophageal spasms.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
