I sleep on my stomach, and this sleeping on my back thing has been quite a pain! When is it okay to lay on your stomach? I'm too scared to do it now, and I'm 5 days post-op.

I'm almost three weeks out and I can't imagine sleeping on my stomach right now. But everyone is different and I would think that when it is comfortable for you, it is probably ok to sleep that way. I think our body tells us with pain signals what we can do and not do. :)

i will be three weeks on tuesday, and just last night i was FINALLY able to ease on to my tummy to sleep! Now, if I could just flop back and forth I would be back to my old self! The flopping part causes soreness!

I am about 7 months out now and I am a stomach sleeper, love it. I was paranoid and restarted in 4 months. No issues at all.

I know how you feel!! I'm 10 days out and still can't lay on my stomach, and it is sooooo annoying.

I have managed to find a comfortable position on my side. If you positon the pillows under your head properly, you can almost have your head in the same position as when you sleep on your stomach.

By the way, I would really NOT recommend laying on your stomach. Your incisions haven't healed enough. Also, sleeping on your stomach and moving around on your stomach will irritate your incisions.

sleep well!

I'm 4 days out and I started out sleeping in a recliner, I hate it, I'm a stomach sleeper. This morning I woke up very early couldn't get comfy and back to sleep. I went into the spare bedroom and proped my self up on 2 pillows then put a pillow beside me and leaned on it. It was great I'm going to sleep like that tonite and see how it goes. Good Luck!!

I was laying on my stomach 2.5 weeks out. I didn't have much pain by 1.5 weeks and this Friday I just found myself on my tummy! So I guess when you don't feel pain just try it out...your tummy won't burst open (that's what I was afraid of!! LOL)

Good luck!

Lovingly,

monica:001_tongue:

I could sleep on my tummy less than a week out. I either didn't have a lot of swelling or I'm insensitive to pain.

Took me about 14 days to be able to lay on my stomach and fall asleep. I was sleeping so horribly on my back that I tried it from about a week out until I was able to do it. I slept on my side from about day 10.

I'm about a month out now and my stomach and incisions all feel fine, no pain, pulling or burning at all.

Just listen to your body -- if it hurts, you probably shouldn't be doing it yet :001_tongue:

I was able to lay on my stomach in just a couple weeks but, like ADS above, I was in a modified side sleeping position that felt very similar to my usual position without putting pressure on my stomach.

I think I was about 2.5wks before I did... it felt weird at first but ok after the first few times. I think its just when you feel its right and comfortable.

LOL! I'm a stomach-sleeper AND a flopper as well! According to my huz, I also strike some interesting poses...

I didn't even think about that issue... sh*t... :scared0:I guess I'll be riding the couch for a while (helps prop me on my side).

Thanks for representing the men-folk, Pete! An underrepresented minority, but so important to remember! What would we women-folk do without you guys???

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
