This is great Carla. It looks like you're moving closer to onederland. That's exciting.

Have you told people that you had surgery? I know that's an ongoing debate here on VST. I had pretty much decided to tell - AFTER surgery. Well, now the after is here and I'm a little gun shy about telling. I did tell a close trusted friend and she was very supportive and felt that I didn't need to tell people because it wasn't their business.

I think I'm still leaning toward telling just because I don't want to expend the extra energy on creatively explaining all the great dieting and exercising I did to lose weight. I figure I can say I had surgery and move on. (I don't plan to give any details about my surgery or eating habits.) What do you think?

Hey Educationrulz, I can't wait to be in onederland! I did tell my Aunt who lives next door and is a verison of Mrs.Kravitz on Bewitched (lol) and she took care of it by putting on a prayer board at church. Our town is small with 3 redlights so it's mostly common knowledge.I'm ok with that and have a friend and a brother looking into this surgery aready but no one else has commented other than to compliment me. I hope you are doing well and have a good 4th of July!!

Carla - OMG!! I live in a small town with NO stoplights and I have to admit I go

t a chuckle out of the prayer group thing.

Mary - I have thought alot about what I want to tell people when they start to notice the weightloss. In the end, I think I will want to tell people because if it can help someone else, then that would be great. But I also think I need a little time with it for myself, so what I have decided to say until I am ready to tell the rest of the story is that the weightloss has been a very personal thing for me and has been alot of hard work. Both of those things are true, and hopefully by saying it has been a very personal thing, it might keep people from being too nosy. Time will tell.

Kathy

Congratulations!! You're doing so great!

Have you noticed your restriction really kicking in over the last few weeks?

You're just one day behind me and for the past few weeks my restriction has really kicked in and I've been completely amazed at how little I can eat!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
