July 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

eGADS. I finally saw 159 on the scale! But only for two days|: But it still motivates me. I have been stuck around 162 or so since March, but it was heaven to see that 5. I definitely need another fill (last one in November) but I just dont have the time to go down to Mex. Tonight I looked at my journal which lists all of my weights; I didnt realize it had been so long since I lost. I would like to get to goal (150) by my bandiversary (july 6) but it doesnt look good!

I did join a gym a couple weeks ago, but I have only gone 3 times. :)

However, I have been taking long walks in the evening. It is funny how 2-3 miles goes by like nothing. I remember last summer (and several before then) when I would dread walking anywhere because I would get sweaty, tired, and out of breath. Now it just seems effortless.

Anyways...Hope everyone is doing well. Keep on losing!

Olive,

It took me I think 6 weeks to lose the last 10 lbs.

I knew it had to be about a plateau thingy.

11 lbs is like being at goal.

Just consider this fine tuning. lol

Don't pressure yourself about the anniversary date.

If I hadn't went into mega exercise mode. 4 to 6 miles a day!!

I thinks I would have just lost half of my 105 lbs in 8 months . I BURNED off those lbs.

I hadn't admitted this before but at one time I had two friends asking me to walk with them too!!

Lucky for me they would only walk 1 mile maybe. Eventually they fizzled out all together. Whew..

I wanted to support them. It drove my hubby nuts.

I told him to relax those walks were what I considered "icing on the cake" of my daily program.

You better believe I would lose 4lbs on each of those weeks.

Well, I'm checking in and letting ya'll know about my exercise routines. I have worked out with the trainer 2x now and she is kicking my behind...lol!! She has me swim for 30 minutes, doing laps and walking in the shallow end of pool, kicking etc. Then we go to weight training. I'm using 10 and 15 lb. dumbbells and she said I should probably get 20 lb. I also use a band to do leg exercsies and then do stomach crunches. Yes, I'm sore!! I've decided since I want to have around 11 more lbs. off at bandiversary, that I need to try and do cardio stuff the other 2 days. 3 days of the program, and 2 days of other cardio...my exercise bike. So, I spent around 40 minutes on my bike today. Now, I'm going to relax in the pool and just enjoy it. My mom flew in from Michigan, so we are going to enjoy ourselves some. I'm going to try and keep accountable here with ya'll. I really don't like exercise, but I want to get my body in the losing mode and tighten up what I can!!

Hopefully, everyone is doing okay. Sherri Jo, I will be praying for you. You do have some tough decisions, as Edie stated. I do encourage you though, not to get into a "victim mentality" but to make a decision whether it's leaving or staying. My sister just divorced her hubby and ended up getting 1/2 of everything due to her being in a community property state. You may want to look at the legal options. I'm not one to encourage divorce, if things can be worked out, but at times, that's a decision that some have to make. This cannot be an easy time for you and we will be here to support you. I hope ya'll can work it out!

Thanks for checking in Mary! WTG on the exercising. I figure I better check in too. Well I am stuck at my current weight lol. But I have been so good about exercising. Yesterday I wore a short skirt, and felt ok in it even. So that was a neat nsv. Maybe I'll post it with side by side pictures. My 6 year old was nice enough to take a photo of me lol. Other than that I don't have much to report. I do have my period as of today though so maybe in a couple days I'll drop a few pounds and finally be out of the 180's. Sherri so sorry to hear about what you are going through. The fact that he's 'just talking' and 'best friends' with this woman is more of a bummer in a way than if he was just screwing her. I wonder why he's not emotionally attached to you as a best friend? I mean obviously he feels capable of talking with a woman. I wonder if a couples therapist could help you two move past this and communicate better? Just a thought. Good luck with everything.

Hi Everyone.....after not logging on since early February I decided to come on and see how everyone is doing.

YOU GUYS look amazing!!!!! Two special shout outs but love to all:

Kari...you STILL have those great cheerleader legs!!! You

are gorgeous!! :)

Stephanie....OMG on your surgery!!! Good luck!!! On the positive

think how much easier recovery will be minus 100+ pounds!!

;) to you!!!!!!

OK and to me......I knew my experience was different and by September something was not clicking.....my surgeon finally said in December that banding doesn't work for everyone and I am obviously one of those. Sad face. :speechles Hung in there through the holidays then by February I was discouraged, had some sad events happen, have had some odd upper respiratory since April 13th (yeah 4-13 and it's June) that has thrown me for a loop and well, 20+ (if not more) of my pitiful 39 pound loss is back on. :faint:NP told me there was no sense in coming back to the surgeon because he was not a weight-loss doctor and there was nothing he could do. She said to drink more Water, walk more and see a shrink. LOL. Okay. Anyway....I am NOT throwing in the towel.....so this is not totally a depressing post!

I am exploring some options and am ready to move forward!!! Wish me luck.....I miss my July friends!!!

Love to all!

Ruthie

Kari: You HOT MAMA!! You look FABULOUS!!! Keep up the good work!! The scale may not be moving fast, but you are triming down fast!!! That exercise is obviously working!!

Ruthie: Sorry to hear about the problems with weightloss!! But, I'm so glad you are not "throwing in the towel". Come here for encouragement and ideas. Everyone here is a great cheerleader and we go through our problems together, too.

Stephanie: Where are you? How'd the surgery go? I'm thinking you don't have access to a computer now. Can't wait to hear how things are!!

Okay, I did my workout today by myself. Couldn't swim due to rain and storms but did the bike and weights. So, 4/6 days I exercised. My goal is 3x a week, with trying to get in some extra cardio on 2 more days. I've been a bit down and not sure why except Father's Day is tomorrow and this will be the first Father's Day without my dad here. So, maybe that's why. My mom is here visiting and I think it will be difficult for her, too. So, if you think of me and believe in prayer, please remember me and my family. Thanks!!

Hey guys I am still around. The stupid computer kicked me out again. It was good to catch up with all of you. I am finally losing some weight again. Yipee!! I have several things that I think that I am doing that is making the difference. First of all I am now taking an appetite suppresant and I am drinking lemonade out the wazoo. That is the only thing that I am doing different. Not much exercise yet but we got our pool all ready for this weekend and it has rained all the time.

Sherri - I am soooo sorry for all of your problems. If you want to talk just email me. I am not one for divorce but if he is really doing stuff with her then that is unforgiveable. Let's talk. Email me.

Mary - I had the same thing today and my daddy has been gone for three years now. It does get a little better each year so hang in there. I had my daughter come up for my first father's day without daddy. It always helps to have others around. You are in my prayers.

Karlik - you look great. Keep it up!!

Ruthie - sorry to hear about your problems. You might try an appetite suppressant. It's working for me. I never get hungry. Well not that much. Way to go to not giving up. Let us know if we can do anything to help you out.

Stephanie - I hope you are doing good. Let us know how you are when you can. Miss you.

To all of the rest of you - keep it up and don't give up. I love you all and I promise I will be around more often. I missed you all very much. I sam not going to get kicked off again. Talk to you all later.

Hey gang,

We have an option to move this thread and out posts to a new area.

Instead of looking for this thread, we could go to monthly and go directly to it.

Lets talk about it. If not that is ok too.

Sometimes I do have to hunt this thread down. The new way would be a very direct way.

I put JULY 2006 in search now. So it is 6 one way and half a dozen the other.

On this monthly new section they have Jan 07 thru dec 07. It would kind of be cool to show July 06 participation on this new monthly section.

How you get to this new section is

start at home

and look under main lap-band forums

monthy support

I like it here. I think it will be easier to track.

I am holding my 198. I am finding the summer-like conditions harder to stay away from the high calorie beverages and Snacks. So must make a concerted effort to not be dumb this summer. My kids don't need any of it either. They are all thin, and I plan on them staying that way.

Hmmm, I am working on the last 30 pounds or so.

I have dropped in my excitement on going to the gym. This last 2 weeks of school is CRAZY busy. That can be both good and bad.

Anyway, just making my weekly check in. Hope you are all still maintaining and losing....

It is very hard for me to believe that we are coming up on our 1st anniversary. I am so thrilled I followed through. I am 82 pounds thinner and feel so awesome I can't even stand it. I can hardly wait to lose the last 30, then I think I might be on top of the world.

Eddie, tell me about maintaining.

Hi friends, Im just checking in again. I've stepped my exercise to twice per day. Im eating right, drinking Water, taking Vitamins, getting in 8 hours of sleep per night. It feels so good to finally be back on track. I just can't get below 180 lol. Im exactly 180, not 180.1 lol but its just stuck there! ughh. Maybe tomorrow it will finally be 179.9. I had an interesting NSV, I went to Target to get a new swimsuit because the one from last year is HUGE on me lol. Anyways I hadn't been to a Target in at least a year, I didn't recognize myself in the mirror lol. I didn't look at myself until I was already undressed, I gasped, and then looked at myself for a few minutes. It was crazy lol because I still had this picture in my head of what I thought I looked like (227 lbs), and I just don't look like that person anymore. It was cool. Just wanted to tell yous.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
