Going out with a... scrambled eggs?

Recommended Posts

I just realized that my last meal pre-sleeve (which I'm going to cook up in about an hour or so in order to be inside my 12 hour no food window) will be a big plate of scrambled eggs. It's low carbs and it will give me a big chunk of Protein to tide me through a few days of almost no nutrients, but it seems sort of... anticlimactic, doesn't it? I'll add some cayenne pepper and lots of cheese to make it less bland, but still...

I feel like it should be a giant steak and mashed potatoes, a big frosty mug of beer, and a dessert of cherry pie a la mode. Instead... scrambled eggs and cheese.< /p>

Oh well, I'm not doing this for the "last meals" I'm doing it for long-term health!

Will be thinking about you! Hmmm, might be a big decision for me on Sunday evening, I will be in Mexico and those Margaritas are darn good... Nah, don't want to be hung over the day of surgery...

ENJOY! Not your last meal, just the last meal of that size!

Really truly there are no last meals. I enjoyed my favorite food yesterday (part of a taco) and it was delish! You'll get to incorporate favorites and I am discovering new ones too. It is actually kind of an adventure to cook and modify things.

Angie don't tell ourobourus but Dr. Aceves lets you have a margarita and a last meal. It seemed a little kookie to me, but I had fajitas and three diet cokes before going to bed the night before surgery.

I won't tell if you won't! Shhh...

Aww geez. You guys should get the doc to buy a round of drinks and invite all your sleeve buddies down!

In retrospect, though, I'm glad that I was so compliant with my low carb preop diet. The surgeon said that my liver looked amazingly healthy; "you have the liver of a 20 year old" were his exact words. As a 39 y.o. man, I'll take any comparison to 20 y.o. man, gladly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
