One-Two weeks out/Back to work (question)

Recommended Posts

How has this worked for some of you? Were you actually ready to go back this soon? When did you noticed you were ready to do more and more daily activities?

I went back to work in one week - I was tired by the end of the day; however, it wasn't a big deal to go back to work - I was out grocery shopping the day after coming home from Mexicali - so 4 days after surgery - and although I tired easily, that was the only physical issue - no pain, no trouble walking, etc. Many were ready to go back to work sooner -- I can't imagine how bored I would have been being off work for 2 weeks!

I went back yesterday which was my one week mark, and I managed but then crashed. I usually work about a 14 hour day but I did a 6 hour day and a minimal job at that. It is so individualized. I wished I would've given myself a couple more days, but it really depends on what you do and what you can afford. Good luck!

I'm yet to be sleeved (5/6), but my plan is to have it done one a Thursday, recuperate through the weekend, and then work from home for a week. I've got all this cleared with my boss. Of course, I'm lucky enough to be able to do my job (I'm a programmer) from home, so I can go and lie down or take a ten minute walk when necessary. After a week, I'm figuring I should be well enough to go back in to the office.

I had my surgery on Wednesday, March 17, and went back to work on Monday, March 29. That was plenty of time for me. In fact, I could have gone back Monday the 22 if I'd needed to.

I took off 2 weeks from work and the opportunity to rest was perfect. Still got tired easily due to lack of calories, but it gets better.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
