Hello All

I finally joined after reading some of the post here.

Before deciding to have WLS, I completed the Optifast class through Kaiser. I lost 30 lbs on program and another 30 on my own.

Today I received a packet for the procedure Vertical Sleeve. I am ever so excited. I have orientation on June 14.

I like to add, the post I've read are so full of hope and congrats to you all. Don't ever be discouraged. :(

Hi and welcome to the forum ! ! ! Fingers crossed for you on getting a surgery date soon.

I saw that you had asked how to get a ticker in your signature.

Here's the Ticker tutorial link that will help you edit your signature to have a ticker in there. Also, to edit the signature, all you'll do is make sure you set up a PIN so you can edit, once you are ready to change your weight for your ticker, you'll click back on your ticker, it'll open a new window for you, and you'll enter your PIN and then hit edit/update weight. You can actually get to the Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy... by clicking my ticker in my signature, and then design your own. If you need any help with it, just let me know.

wow, welcome, congratulations, i'm so happy for you, i'm trying to get the sleeve but my insurance still considers it experimental and they don't want to pay for it. hopefully they will all start offering it, i mean really, thankfully kaiser , united, and i think in april aetna is going to be offering it, hopefully anthem bc and all the others realize they need to offer this and give us all a good chance, so wish me luck on my journey and i wish you all good luck on yours

good luck getting your sleeve approved. i hate that so many of you have to jump through hoops to get this much needed surgery. it is so ridiculous how insurances rule our lives!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
