Is that forever or just the beginning when you are not getting nutrient from food? I usually drink about 3 12oz a day and I know that is almost half the amount I will have to. What is the reason and is forever. Everyone talks about the sipping sipping sipping.

I've always read that we need a minimum of 64oz of water/clear fluids a day to help maintain hydration and normal kidney functions. It helps flush all the toxins from our bodies, and is vital in keeping us healthy.

I know when I skimp on Water I just don't feel the same. I've had to tank up on fluids to deal with the low blood pressure issue, and I've been getting in about 80oz of fluids a day on top of coffee, and other stuff. I've felt really great lately getting in the extra Fluid, but find it challenging sometimes getting everything in.

64 oz is a minimum guideline not just for post ops, but for people. One of the recommendations I was given by a nutritionist was to take your weight in half and drink that many oz per day. (I weigh 300 lbs and I should drink 150 oz daily.) I know that isn't a number I can even come close to (unless it is diet coke related :>) So I will manage with the 64 oz.

Does the 64 oz include the Decaf coffee? I have trouble with that much Water too but if I use the propel packets or some other sugar free low calorie flavoring to the water I have a much better time.

Decaf coffee and teas were on my approved list for Clear liquids. The propel, crystal light, and other sugar-free, decaffeinated additions also count as Clear Liquids.< /span>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
