Thanks Mary :) Spoke to surgeons PA the other day and mentioned my nerves, she said I made the right decision, a pt came in who had had a lapband, had nothing but trouble with it, removed and replaced with sleeve, and now she is going really well, so Im excited :)

Good Luck Smelly Melly :) Will let you know how I go!

Actually one question I have for you regulars, Im abit nervous about my first sip of Fluid post op, is there any discomfort/pain with it?

Hi AJ, Welcome! I had to laugh at your post because I wanted to go to sleep and wake up on day 4.

First sip for me didn't come until my leak test 24 hours post-op. It really didn't hurt. I had to drink some concoction so that they could view it going through my Sleeve. I wasn't allowed Water or ice chips until after the test. After that was done, I had to sip 8 oz of fluids (took 4 hours) and then they let me go home. It wasn't bad at all, just strange. By day 5 I was working on 64 oz a day.

You'll do just fine!

Day one I pleaded with my surgeon to allow me to wet the inside of my mouth and tongue with ice chips (the nurses refused me inspite of my begging). My surgeon granted me permission and I was so grateful. I did make sure not to swallow any of the Water I just spit it out but it was such a relief to wet my mouth. I had to sip some noxious tasting clear stuff for the leak test--I still can't believe I did it. After that I got the OK to sip clear fluids and I did ever so slowly. At the time I was sustained with sipping on ice chips w/apple juice...loved the combo and felt like I was getting some nutrients from the juice.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
