One month update, surgery on 1-25

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to give a one month update. I had surgery on 1-25

with Dr. Aceves in MX. I lost about 8 pounds prior to surgery and

as of Monday 2-22 I have lost a total of 47 pounds and 19.25 inches.

I'm sure loosing that much weight that fast has to do with me being

a guy and having a starting weight of 362 pounds. But I'm still proud

to see it coming off.

I'm getting back into clothes that have been tucked away in my closet

for sometime.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the information you have shared

and continue to share. When I was invited to site in December I was

considering Lapband and quickly changed my mind.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Gary

Congrats Gary! The numbers are all relative : ) the fact that they are going down is awesome! I figure it could take me six months to lose 50 pounds but so long as the number keeps getting smaller, I will be happy with my decision.

Have to say tho, 47 pounds??? WOW!! You must feel amazing!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
