Hello Everyone!

I am having a really tough time right now. As some of you may know I experienced a set back last month which forced me to have another surgery. Luckily, I have been going strong since. I see all kinds of post from others who have had this surgery, and by no means do I want to start comparing myself to their personal experiences, however, I see people posting that the pounds are just melting off. This is NOT happening for me. I count calories, keep a food/exercise journal daily. I work out on 1 hour of cardio a day minimum, not to mention the endless walking I do here at the prison for work and I just dont see the results that everyone posts here. Am I doing something wrong? People post pictures of themselves here and I see the amazing transformations, even after a few months.I would like some kind of guidance or reassurance that this wasnt a mistake. Please someone, help me with this.:)

Take you measurments. If you are building muscle it might not seem so, but don't be obsessed with the scale. Muscle takes up less space than fat. I get discouraged also, I can't exercise that much due to this abscess I'm still dealing with over 6 weeks out, so though I'm losing, I'm seeing the inevitable sag (cursing) How much weight have you lost? Remember its better to lose slow to avoid sagging skin. Are you drinking Water and getting all your protien in? I know you will succeed with everything you are doing. Keep your chin up and keep going!!!

It sounds as if you are doing everything right. I would evaluate your carb (no more than 30grams per day), Protein (60+grams), and calories (600-800). It is difficult to not compare yourself with everyone else. I highly agree with taking measurements of your bust, waist, thighs, calves and upper arms. You're burning fat, and building muscle. You'll lose inches, and remember a pound is a pound. I know since I started working out again, I've been able to maintain, but my measurements are shrinking.

You'll get there. Don't give up.

I have a body fat meter. I am kind of stuck and this weight but my body fat is still going down. Get off the scale. Our relationship with the scale is so unhealthy. Concentrate on meeting your goals for the day and see if you can afford a body fat meter. Mine was 9.99 or 19.99 and it is as accurate as the drs. office one. they are always within .1 of eachother.

Have you had your thyroid and female hormones checked?

I get stuck too. Sometimes for 2 weeks I see the scale NOT MOVE or move up 1 lb. Man oh man, I know how you feel, but eventually it starts moving again. Dont get discouraged. It will happen. Slow is better anyway :-D

I am not sure if you have read my posts, but I have also been recently dissapointed and stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks. I saw my surgeon today. He advised me to get back on my thyroid (have you ever had yours checked?) and to "re-start" my weightloss to do 2 Protein shakes a day and then 2 other small meals at around 200 calories.

And then be sure you follow what Tiffykins has said about Protein and carbs and calories, but almost just as important is your Water. Are you getting at least 64 oz in? That is the way our body gets rid of the fat and excess, so not getting enough can keep it all in.

Just my 2 cents. I am sticking to it, my doc reassured me that IT WILL happen, there's no way it won't work if I am following the rules, so hang in there!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
