constant light period

Recommended Posts

1 week before surgery i started having blood when i wiped. then the day before surgery full on period. that lasted for a few days and then back to just when i wipe. this is still happening, so for almost a month ive been on my period. ive always been very irregular only having a period once or twice a year. is this normal with weight loss, or should i visit my gyn?

My periods were pretty irratic immediately post-op. I would make a call to at least your PCM or ob/gyn to make sure you are not having any issues.

When we lose weight (especially quickly), the estrogen that is stored in our fat cells is released into our bodies. It could be the shock of surgery/anesthesia, or the estrogen throwing off your hormones.

Since surgery, my periods have become more light, and more regular.

My period situation is a mess. I am actually visiting my doctor today about it. My cycle has gone from an always 28 days to 20-23 days. I flow now for 7 days, super heavy and rich red. Then I spot for a few days and then it is done. But when your cycle is only 20 days you spend half your life on your period! Ugh.

I know hormones are all messed up after surgery. I am more going to the doctor to get reassured than anything. I will let you know what he says.

I think you may want to talk with your gyn since it sounds like it started happening before surgery. My fibroids were said to be the cause of my extra long/weird periods before they were removed.

Well I talked to my doctor and since this is a new thing for me (just since surgery) he feels it is all hormonal. Estrogen stored in fat, shock to the body losing weight so fast, yada, yada.

He offered to put me on birth control pills but felt since I didn't need them for birth control why take more pills? I agreed. I will wait it out and buy stock in Always.

i have started a full on period now. it is consistent with last month as far as when the full flow started. we will see what happens i guess. i have never had a regular period, but in the past when i would lose weight i would have a light one. i need to make an appt with my gyn anyways so this is just kind of another reason to call!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
