Well girls and guys I'm done! I'm a sleeve sister . Why didn't someone say how incredible this surgery hurts! The JP drain is a killer, the gas is a killer, the doctor was nice enough to put a mirocaine ball to help with the other cuts. . this hurts about if not more than my c/sections. . . . but I'm done and Im on the loser side now and I'm one my journay. . . . I'm walking ALOT! can't tolerate Water though, they gave me some broth, Jello, and a popsicle, the only thing that tasted good was the popsicle (I didn't even like popsicle in my old life, sure do now) but could only "eat" the tip, gas pains got me, had to go walk. . . am burping somewhat, past one good gas down below . . . I'm on my road to recovery. . . doctor said everything went great yeasterday, no fatty liver or nothing. . . so that made me happy. . . .so I guess my New Years resolution this year may work and it'll happen! I'm starting to feel a bit blue but that too shall pass. . . . just like the gas! hahaha. . . . thanks everyone, will really need your support now. . . .

Woo hoo!! That's awesome news. I know the pain, especially the gas pain, is horrible, but you will get past in it no time. The first week for me was just all 'round icky, but after the drain was gone and the pain diminished, I felt so much better. I'm only 17 days out and feel really good.

Hang in there, and get in as much Fluid as you possibly can. It makes the difference between recovery and a repeat visit to the hospital! Take care, and welcome to the loser's bench!

I'm glad to hear everything went ok, sorry your feeling so icky though. I am still pre-op and was curious if the doctor prescribes something for all this gas I been hearing about or if I should buy some stuff over the counter? I hope all your pain goes away soon. Keep us posted on your recovery. It's good to know what I'm in for! Take care.

Thin1day, I notice you are in San Antonio, did you go to Dr. Alvarez? I read another post that the pain medicine he uses didn't help much.

Congrats you having it over and wishing you a speedy speedy recovery!

Congrats you having it over and wishing you a speedy speedy recovery!

I believe that he uses Toradol, which is an excellent post-op pain killer...worked better than demerol for me, and no nausea/vomiting like I had with the demerol after a hysterectomy. Toradol took away my pain 100% but demerol did not.

Dr Aceves also uses Toradol. It's an awesome, non-narcotic medication.

Congratulations Erykah! I was miserable the first few days after surgery, but by day 5 or 6 I was much better.

Gas-x strips or chewables were very helpful with the gas.

Thanks gals for your support and "love", loser, no I had surgery with Dr. Cavazos and he uses a miricaine ball, diloided, phenergen, and lortab elixer . . . these work very well! Only the pain creeps up faster then the meds are given! tomorrow i get my contast to check for leaks. . .don't know how i'll do that cause i can hardly tolerate liquids . . . i've been lucky to get down 1/2 bottle of Water today, but i did eat 1 popsicle. . . anyhow group i'm feeling icky so i'll chat more later. . . thanks for being there with me. . .

I too had a lot of trouble tolerating liquids at first. My experience with the contrast was horrible BECAUSE I gulped it. My advice, take tiny sips. After that test was the only time I puked in all of my recovery...I don't know what I was thinking???

did anyone else get major diarrhea with the contrast? Wow, today I thought for sure that my butt exploded after the leak test. . . im home now and am doing ok. . . gas in the shoulder, but that should pass. . . rec'd darvocet for pain, he felt ok to give me pills. . . wow it's so weird when your tummy says stop, it actually really hurts with the pressure! But then it slowly goes down. . . .weird. . . I've done fairly well with liquids today, I used to hate popsicles, but now think they are the best. . . broth? Well that is somewhat to be desired. . . but i drink it, so for today i've had 2 cups of broth, 3 popsicles and some propel Water. . . . and contrast! That was soooooooooo nasty! hehehe . . . this too shall pass. . . . oh, my favorite drink rum and coke, the smell is very gross. . . don't even want to see it. . . my hubbie is enjoying a news years eve drink and it really stinks. . . . just wanted to share! Thanks for listening. . .

You'll be having peacock poops for a couple of days. I swear my toilet bowl looked like an irradescent rainbow for awhile during the liquid stage.

Hang in there. I also stretched my shoulder quite often to try to get that gas bubble to move.

I been hearing alot about shoulder gas. It sounds painful! Can someone explain what that is, and why they get it? Is it like normal gas, but in the shoulder? Why do you get gas in the shoulder?...I'm confused and scared!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
