Anyone else having abdominal pain 20 minutes after eating? It doesn't matter what I eat, I get a pain in my low abdomen near my bladder. I don't have an bladder infection. Most of the time there is nausea. It's so bad that I stop eating.

I have a colonoscopy scheduled for January 11. It couldn't be done before that because I was on blood thinners from the blood clot I had in September.

Thanks for any replies.

I'm sorry that I have no experience with what you are describing. I know you have the colonoscopy scheduled, but you may want to give your surgeon's office a call...it never hurts. I wish you get things resolved soon.

Bewitched,

could it be the amount you're eating? maybe not realizing that you're full on a lesser amount and then feeling the pain when the "full" signal is put out by the tummy?

Try backing off by 1/4 cup each meal and see if that helps. If it doesn't ..then it's something else.

Every day when I attempt to eat my insides hurt...I don't feel it is my stomach, it is much lower, like in my intestines--I fairly certain the lack of Water makes it harder for my food to go thru and results in PAIN. After my period ended I finally took some milk of mag and the PAIN was released the next morning--but then again this evening--2 small dime size bites of smashed up chicken and the pain is back--not so bad, but it is there. I quit eating and am drinking some water....I didn't have to pain before when I was drinking 60 or more oz a day, so I'm going to test my theory!

Today at lunch I just had some vegetable broth and there was no pain--it is with solid foods...:bored0:

Boredoncemore, that's how I feel. It's definitely my intestines. I'm ok with liquids but solids give me pain no matter how much I eat. I will keep you up to date with what my doctor's find out.

Yes please do! I tried again today, after having drank over 40 oz of Water this morning...pain immediately, from my lower abdomen radiating into my back. I don't think it is from teh surgery...way to low!

I called my Dr and he had me come in immediately to rule out any infections...after we talked and he examed me he didn't feel it was sleeve related, gave me some meds for IBS just in case to take 1 before each meal and see if the cramping calms down when I try to eat. He really wants me progressing to soft foods and I'm soooo scared to eat anything!

hmmm,,, Sounds like gall bladder stones can be a problem after weight loss. I wonder about what percentage of sleevers either have their gall bladder removed during the sleeve op, or post op as a result of stones.

I had a band put in in 2006, lost over 50lbs then started having gall bladder issues about a year ago. Last Friday I had my band removed and was sleeved, but also had my gall bladder removed. They said it was FULL of stones. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired that had been undiagnosed before. So having a gall bladder ultrasound would probably be a good idea.

I had my colonoscopy yesterday. Everything was normal. We are now checking for celiac. I'll keep you updated.

If you don't mind me asking how was prepping for the colonoscopy with the smaller stomach? Did you have to drink the gallons of terrible stuff?

I have to have one every 3 years because my grandmother on my fathers side died of colon cancer at 32. I am 33.

I don't have gall stones. The pain is in my low abdomen above my pelvic bone.

My prep for the colonoscopy was 5 oz of Pico Salix at 3 pm and 7 pm the day before. It went fine.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
