Merry Christmas...I almost had to kill my family last night!

Recommended Posts

Merry Christmas all! So, here I sit 11 days out, and I watched the family inhale warm, hot, fresh tamales last night all covered in cheese and with all the other garnishes. I swear I had a real pity party for myself.

But, I survived. I know I made this choice for all the right reasons, and I know I will be able to have my favorites again someday in small portions. Funny, I baked all day, and that didn't bother me at all. But, then again, sweets have never been my weakness. Bring on the cheese and grease, and you will find my front and center. My world has changed, and I must find the courage and strength to make this all work for me. I CAN AND WILL DO THIS!

I don't think I'll ever be the health nut convert that maybe some folks find themselves to be after weight loss. I know that food plays too big a role in our lives not to enjoy the things that bring me joy. But, I'm committed to working the sleeve to it's best ability and enjoying the not-so-good for me foods in moderation when that time comes.

Merry Christmas!

Theresa

Can I come to your house? We can have that pity party together. Oh, no.....wait, I can't even open my front door 2 inches due to a 3 ft high drift. Bah Humbug. My DH is happy though, because Santa brought him a new snow blower. I'm not sure it will make it through the drifts. Good thing the garage door goes up, so he can get the blower out and work his way to the front door. They're calling for up to 18 inches before it's overwith. I'm thinking Santa was not pleased when he had to visit Iowa.

But DH is fixing bacon and eggs for b'fast. We have Cookies, dips, broccoli salad, chili and a very expensive beef tenderloin ($13,99 a pound). And no one to share them with. The loin will go in the freezer, I will eat the broccoli salad for several days (DH doesn't like it) and well, maybe a few Cookies and chips/dip. I guess it's a good thing I haven't had WLS yet.

My parents, brothers, nieces and nephews and "greats" are all in Illinois enjoying their day together. And we (DH and I) are home alone and won't see any of our kids today. They can?t get to us and we can?t get to them. Yep, having a pity party at my house. Waaaa Waaaa.

But at least we didn't lose power....yet.

Then there's that bottle of wine I was going to share with company. Maybe I'll drink it myself and wallow in self pity??right after I eat everything in sight.

Like I said....BAH HUMBUG!

But I hope everyone else has a wonderful day.

Wanda

Theresa,

You crack me up. Merry Christmas, I know next Christmas, your skinny-behind will be laughin' as your recall this holiday, and as you enjoy the tamales with your family. You have showed so much determination by beginning your journey before the holiday. I am ready for my day next week. Enjoy the smells and the strengh your body is showing to heal this season. I am sooo proud of you! (Keep the knives hidden for another week or so.)

It's almost your day, huh, Barb? I'm excited for you! Are you coming up Monday night? Please let me know how everything goes. I went and visited Anna on Wednesday after they took my drain out. She looked great and was doing well.

Theresa, the tamales must be a Texas thing as that is our family's traditional Christmas eve meal as well. I am already counting the days until next year. Christmas went well today with my family eating all of the Christmas casseroles (about half of which I cooked) and finery while remarking about me with my cream of broccoli Soup and my Jello. Actually, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared, but the smell of the French's Onion Rings on top of the cooking broccoli casserole about killed me.

Hee Hee Hee! Theresa, you are just too funny. Keep all the weapons locked up. You will be able to enjoy those tamales once again, just not now. Merry Christmas!

Hey, I was sitting with family having Christmas dinner. Me with V8 splash juice and they with yummy food. I had to take some meds as well and we all went The Jetsons on my pills. Everyone was joking that my pills were steak and potatoes and other such stuff just like the jetson's pill popping meals. It was funny and really lightened me up!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
