Was wondering if anyone else has experienced nausea and throwing up. Im offically 1 month post op and still get sick about once aday. Im not that hungry so I have to make myself eat sometimes. Every time I try something different makes me sick especially eggs how ever there are cooked and they used to be my favorite. Would apprieciate any feedback.

Stop trying eggs...try something different. Go back to eggs in a month and see if they work then. (poached seems to work best anyway).

I'm sure some more experienced sleevers will respond...since I'm only one day out!

Hey Paula,

I have not experienced nausea to the point of throwing up but have had it a bit here and there and have read that others get it. For many it may be the acid in your tummy.. can you try some over the counter Prilosec or call our doctor and ask what they can presribe? I'd for sure call you surgeon and see what they say. I'm eating well and the few times I get nausea I hate it.. I feel so bad for you.... hang in there... !!

A lot of sleevers tend to have problems with eggs for some reason. So, I agree, you might want to stay away from them. Are you making sure that you are getting enough fluids in? Nausea was one of my primary symptoms when I was dehydrated.

My doctor prescribe me METOCLOPRAM 10 MG FOR NAUSEA AND VOMITING generic for REGLAN. I only had real bad nausea after surgery but no vomiting. I can take one tablet every 6 hours if needed but I only take 1 in morning and 1 at night. Also right before surgery he told me to get some RANITIDINE 150 mg for acid to take 2 tablets day before surgery and 1 the morning of surgery with a sip of Water. Now I have been taking them every day 1 in morning and 1 at night It must be helping because the nausea has let up some and still no vomiting. I get the Ranitidine off the shelf at Wal-Mart in the antiacid isle. It is generic for Zantac I think and it is Equate Walmart Brand cheap.

I had this very issue, and what I determined is that I was not ready for solid food so I stayed on mushies/puree food a bit longer.

I still do not eat eggs. I didn't like them that much before surgery, and definitely not post-op, they made me queasy. The only way I can eat eggs is deviled eggs, and I only eat the yolk stuff.

What are you trying that is making you sick?

Is it meat?

Is it veggies?

Is it dairy products?

Is food getting stuck inducing the vomitting or do you get the food down, it sit for a bit then you vomit?

Are you waiting at least 30 minutes after your last bite to drink anything?

Try to isolate what is causing the nausea/vomitting.

I can take a tiny sip (just enough to wet my whistle) with some foods, but others, it's instant vomit episode.

I have vomitted a couple of times this past week because I didn't chew something up completely. It hit my stomach, I was fine for about 30 minutes then I would burp, and with that burp there was hitchhiker of a bite of food.

I get nauseated when I don't drink enough fluids. You might try increasing Fluid intake.

I was sick with the "foamies" for well into 3 months and vomited daily.

sometimes if I took my meds...... I would get sick... if I drank too fast I would get sick.

Like Tiff said... try to narrow it down, keep a journal to help.

Eat SLOW....... and I mean slow! Makes alot of difference if you have a tendancy to vomit.

I was one of the unfortunate ones that got sick for almost 4 months... and still get sick if I eat too fast-or too much.... sometimes I can't swalllow that last bite, it will swell in my mouth and I have to spit it out....... you will learn your body.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
