How much weight did you lose?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. I'm a bit bummed because I feel like I'm working so hard. Like this is a full time job. However, I've only lost 30lbs in 8 weeks, and 7 was the few days before surgery and 18 of those was in the first 2 weeks. That means in 7 weeks I've only lost 5 lbs. It's so frustrating.

My average is about 700-800 cals a day, 80g Protein, and exercise cardio/weights about 4 or 5 hours a week. I also bike/walk for grocery shopping and fun. I weigh 310! For as hard as I'm working, I feel like the weight should be melting off. I know stalls happen, but this is ridiculous. I'm working so hard!!

How much weight had you lost at 8 weeks? What am I doing wrong?

Josephine -

If you're not losing weight are you losing inches? If you're working out as much as you are, it's possible that you're building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so that could be the reason that the scale isn't moving at the rate you think it should; however, I bet you are losing inches everywhere and that your clothes are ready to fall off.

Take your measurements and when the scale doesn't move, take the measurements again - I bet you see a loss. I know we all like to see the loss on the scale; however, if I can see a loss in inches if not on the scale, at least I know I'm still accomplishing my goal and that eventually the scale will start moving again.

I agree with other posters. Drink more Water. Write down your grams Protein, calories, carbs daily and see if you are meeting goals. Measure. I lost two clothing sizes but very little weight the past month. Bet you are too. Keep on keeping on...let your body do the adjusting it needs to do and put away the scales...weigh once every two weeks.

You seem to be doing everything right... just keep it up nd don't get discouraged.

I lost the bulk of my weight in the first 3 months... LOTS of inches...... to date I have lost 108 inches. but int the past two months the weight has slowed down, but I have dropped in sizes........and I am OK with that!!!

Don't compare yourself to others... we all lose diferently.

Just follow the rules....and drink LOTS of water!!

I lost 40 lbs at two months post. I am now in a stall. My pants keep getting looser. So the advice to measure is a good one. I think we are both just in a stall. Gotta keep the faith! I am determined this be the very first Christmas in my life that I do not GAIN weight. If I do not start loosing again until after Christmas~~~well so be it. Keep up you good work. It will pay off soon.

I went on vacation after I posted this. I haven't had access to a scale cause my mother doesn't allow one in this house. Jumped on one at Walmart and I'm down to 306 =) Happy to see the scale moving again!

And yes.. my clothes are falling off of me.. luckily I have a lot in smaller sizes too!!

Thanks everyone!!!

I lost 12 lbs preop and an additional 17 lbs in the first 2 weeks then I hit a stall. I was stalled for almost 2 weeks. I was starting to panic. Even had a crying spell thinking this wasn't going to work for me. I upped my Protein and my Water and the weight is coming off again. I dropped 3 more lbs in the last 2 days. So I agree. Up your water intake.

Just to update I'm down to 291 now! I can barely believe it, but as the acid reflux started clearing up and I was able to eat more, the pounds just started MELTING OFF the last 2 weeks!!! I've lost 15 lbs in the last 2 weeks!! LOL!!! That's 54 lbs in 3 months. *dances*

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
