I'm new to this forum and find it to be very helpful. I was sleeved on 11/18/09. The surgery went VERY WELL and I am so pleased. I hardly had any pain by Thursday, just a bit of discomfort in the chest and nausea. I was released from the hospital on Friday and feeling GOOD. By Saturday, I begin felling like myself again - I quess the drugs in my system were wearing off. I love the feeling of normalcy. I've been on Clear liquids since my VSG, I have been walking - as ordered by the Dr. Yet, I must admit, during that nausea phase while in the hospital all I could tell myself was - I could have been home not dealing with this and losing the weight on my on- because I did not like dealing with the nausea. Anyway, I got over it. I'm happy I made the decision to have the sleeve. That being said, I hope everyone meets their goal. The jouney isn't over yet, its just begone.

Oh yeh, I was so glad about feeling myself again, I forgot I was on a liquid diet and had a hand full of Pistashios - Its crazy how the mind works - I didnt' throw up but my tummy swirled around a bit so I felt it wasn't ready for the roasted and salted flavor of the nuts so, I stached the pistachios in the kitchen cabinet for possibly a month from now. :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
