Hi! Just wanted to say I am more stable today. Joon told me all about your encouraging words and it just helped me so much. What really helped also were the times I had read on here about day 2 being terrible. I just kept hoping that was true.

I feel much better today although not 100%. Joon is in fantastic shape! I don't know what I would have done without her, I am so glad we found each other on this board.

Anyway...more later.

-newmom

Glad to hear that you are gradually feeling better. Surgery is hard no matter what kind it is, but I am sure that anything involving the stomach has to be much harder, because it involves us eating afterwards. I am very glad that you are posting on here to let us know what to expect. I say expect anything, but hope and pray for the best. I am getting so much closer. Now it is less than a week before I have my surgery DEC.2. I am so excited, but I am on an emotional rollercoaster ride each day, never know how I am going to feel one day to the next. I am so grateful for this forum and all you posters, I hate to even think what it would have been like to go through all this without all this support. ( I think it would have be a nightmare, never really knowing what to expect along the way) I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery.

Newmom here - definitely getting better each day! Yesterday was a relief and today I am just happy to be out of the hospital and amongst people. The food smells in the airport are getting to me a bit, but I also remember reading about that with someone else so I have hooked up my laptop near the wall and I'm just surfing. :)

I really can't wait to get home and get started on this new life!!!

Joon is such a nurturing person, I wish you all had a Joon to travel with.

I am glad the two of you had each other for support. It's really nice

when people from this board are able to connect with each other.

I wish I had been that lucky.

I hope you and Joon have a speedy

recovery and don't mind the post

op diet too much.

Ditto Fair and Lovely! :-)

It was so great to have you with me newmom, it made everything feel easier safer, more homey. I cant wait to see your sexy self in your photographs that you will be posting! Of course the staff and facility was wonderful as well and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Things freaking me out right now: the open wound on my stomach that is just supposed to be washed and then covered with gauze every day. It looks OK I guess it just freaks me out to have my insides exposed and I am hoping that closes up soon. Also my belly is so bruised looking! I know that will all get better but it is strange. I was actually at Thanksgiving last night believe it or not and OH MY GOODNESS, that was an acomplishment of monumental heights. The food looked and smelled sooo good. my husband wanted me to be there so much though that I just couldnt miss it.

So, I am starving, oh yes, I want to eat my Williams and Sonoma catalogue. Just waiting for tomorrow to be able to have slightly less clear ( thin) liquids and wondering what they will be. The thing I am finding most disgusting right now is the swallowing of my crushed medicines. It is so bitter and awful it makes me want to puke! I if I could just swallow it down with a spoon of yogurt that might be less offensive but I honestly dont know how I am going to do it.

You and Newmom are doing so great, congratulations on joining the sleeve sisterhood!

My Vitamins tasted so nasty post op, crushed up, that I stopped taking them and just took my blood pressure and thyroid pills, ( the most essential) which were very tiny, and not so bad crushed. After I started mushies I took the Vitamins, broken into small pieces and that did not taste so bad. I also got a sublingual B12, and liquid D3 to take for the first month. Those were easy and palatable.

Things gradually get better and better, with an occasional back step here and there. When I'd have a bad day, or vomit because I ate too close to bedtime or something, I'd just go back to Protein shakes for a day and let my tummy rest. Things would then move forward. Just keep tuned in to what your new tummy says, and you will do great.

Hi again -- I have a weird question about "thin liquids" - why isn't milk on the list? I am literally gagging on the Protein and tried to put it into Jello, overwhelm it with crystal lite, etc. It is just gross! I think I could handle drinking some milk (8g Protein per cup) but it isn't allowed? arg. I am frustrated.

Has anyone tried this:

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Amino-Fuel-Liquid-Concentrate-fl-oz/dp/B00012NK2C/ref=pd_sim_hpc_2]Amazon.com: Amino Fuel 1000 Mass liquid Concentrate 32 fl.oz: Health & Personal Care[/ame]

Not sure if it clear or not but it is only 3 tbsps

Most people become lactose intolerant after the sleeve. You can

have skim milk if you tolerate it okay, after moving to full liquid.

I had chicken broth with one small spoonful of mashed potatoes mixed in. On the thin diet.

I never crushed my thryoid pills. Just took them whole. I cut the pain pills in half and they went down fine. I have chewable vitamins and sub lingual B6/B12. I drink nonfat milk just fine. 3 sips at a sitting. feel so silly. I bought thoes paper drink cups that hold 3 oz. I use thoes alot for everything. chicken Soup broth is going to be your new best friend for awhile. I liked beef broth too. I drink the EAS brand Myoplex (chocolate) for my Protein Drink. Takes me all darn day but I do it. I buy it at VON's/Safeway. I cannot do the powdered Protein mix I did before sleeve. Popcycles are good. SF pudding saved my life a few times. Now I eat the greek yogurt mostly. Get some of the new V8 juices and add half Water to them. they are tolorable. It really is not too bad, just have patience, it will be over soon.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
