expecpted weight loss after the first month?

Recommended Posts

Hi Sweetie333,

I think you have a very reasonable goal. My weight loss is definitely slowing down, but the earlier months will hopefully help me to average 10 lbs. per month for the first 8 months. I am ecstatic with my loss so far, it has far exceeded anything I thought possible when beginning this journey. I also started out in a size 22-24, and now am in a 12-14 (just fit into my first pair of 12 jeans today!). Good luck and enjoy the ride!

Pre-op diet (1 month)-down 16 lbs.

Month 1-down 21 lbs.

Month 2-down 15 lbs.

Month 3-down 12 lbs.

wow, I am so proud of all of you. congratulationsss u all.

I am size 22.

my goal weight is 145 lbs. this is my dream. I think I can wear size 12 if I reached my goal weight. Now I am 230 which means I need to lose abut 80-90 pounds. sounds like a very far away goal.

carolyn: I agree with you. your expectations are very reasonable. 10 lbs a month is great....10 x 8 = 80 pounds which means I can reach my goal weight in less than a year!!!! is this even possible????

Best wishes to all of you. keep the good work up.

I am 235 lbs, and my goal weight is 135 lbx. I have 100 to loose.

I truely believe it is possible to reach our goal in a year. If you do every thing right, and exercise the way your suposed to, there is NO reason not make it. I have all the faith in the world to get it done.

thanks for this thread, it's good to know that much weight loss is possible the first month.

i lost 20lbs exactly at 1month post op. At around 3weeks i stalled at 17lbs for like 5 days and the last 3 days i lost 3lbs. But i think i could have lost more. But i completely skipped the "mushhy" food part and i went straight from Soups and yougart to chicken and rice. but i think the average is alittle over 20lbs. from i see from others.

I'm am 1 month post op and have lost 10kg, about 22lbs. It's less than many but I was 97kg (213lb) to start with, but i'm pleased with it and getting smaller every day and loving fitting into clothes I haven't worn of years. It really feels great!

I agree with you on the 145 being skinny at 5'7 ! When I lost 170 lbs with the band ((had to have it removed) now I'm gonna be sleeved tomorrow)a few years back I was SKINNY at 183...my family was actually worried, but then again, they were use to seeing me at 350, lol.

Anyway, I'm new on the forum but hope to talk with everyone as I go along!

Hi Bored... and welcome to VST!!

I'm now at 196... I'm in a 14 and it amazes me.... I've lost the weight differently- because at this weight before... I couldn't wear a 14.

I'm 5'8" and I think 140 might be tooo skinny- but will cross that bridge when I get to it... I'm shooting for goal of 160. If I can lose more.... I probably will...

But I've had to have that same discussion at work... all you have seen me at is BIG.... I was at one time smaller...

but they don't know me that way and say I am getting tooo skinny... how is 196 tooo skinny>??:biggrin0:

Glad to have you here....... and welcome!!

At 5 weeks out, I have lost 51 lbs. Start was 312 lbs and am 5'3". Really noticing it in clothing; It is bone chilling cold here and was able to wear thin sweatpants under my blue jeans and the jeans were so loose that I had to wear a belt to keep them up! My doctors want me to lose to 125. That would be 187lbs to lose. I am game.

I lost 26 pounds the first month, most of it in the 2 weeks following the operation. Now (6 weeks post operation) I've been losing about 3 pounds a week.

I am sooo glad I found this thread. I was wondering all these things about how the weight loss will proceed. I think that we all share that, 'too good to be true' mentality and think it will never happen for us. I thought I was alone in that, but I see it is a common fear. I can't imagine reaching my goal. I never have before. I am 10 days out and have lost 15.5 lbs. and still I keep waiting for something to happen and it all comes back. The concept of gone forever just seems unattainable for someone who has suffered the emotional pain of obesity.

I am 2 1/2 weeks post up and I have lost 32 pounds. I'm 5'3 and started at 271, and weighed in at 239 yesterday.

However, I am having a hard time getting in all my liquids and Protein due to other issues. So I think this loss isn't the average.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
