Leveled Off????

Recommended Posts

I have been shedding pounds like crazy. I hit 63 pounds lost last week. Almost 1 to 2 pounds per day. I am 8 weeks out of surgery. I have been working out for some time now, but the last 3 weeks have been doing it about 6 times a week. I run on the treadmill for 35 mins and hit the weights. Working out is becoming an obsession, but I havent lost anything in about 7 days. However shirts are fitting me better than just a week ago and I am ready to move a pants size. I am confused. Will I level off, then drop some, then level off, then drop some???

Hi Brad,

Actually, it is not unusual at all to reach a stall about this far along. Most of us experience it. I hit mine right about the same time as you, and the scale didn't move for almost four weeks. I wasn't doing anything different than I had been. I think our bodies are going through many changes, and this is just part of the adjustment period. It will even back out again. I am now consistently losing between 1-3 pounds every week again.

I agree. When I look at my weight graphs vs my measurement graphs it is interesting. The wt drops down dramatically, then levels off and gets slower. The measurements are slower then drop down more dramatically when the wt stalls. I think recording both stats and comparing them will help you get the true picture of your progress. And, remember, muscle weighs more than fat. You are losing fat and maintain or even building muscle. Yay!!

Weight plateaus have a lot to do with Water weight. Water weight can vary by as much as 10 pounds. So if you aren't losing weight, but are eating a low number of calories and exercising, you are probably losing fat but retaining more water.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
