Fill Docs in Montana/Canada/ID/WA??

Recommended Posts

Im scheduled to have the Lap Band done in Mexico at the end of July. Im now trying to find follow up care and Fill doctors here. I live in Kalispell Montana (NW corner of this huge/rural state). I would like to find a doc here or can travel to Idaho, Washington or Canada. If anyone has any advice on how to find one or knows of one I would greatly appreciate any info.

Thanks

D

Hello,

I live by Kalispell too. I think you emailed me once. There is a fill Dr. in Great Falls named Dr. Rohrer he does not as of right now use fluoro. A fill Dr. in Eagle, Id by the Oregon border. And one in Olympia, WA. There are closer dr's but they won't take patients from Mexico. I wrote to Dr. Rohrer and asked if he would use fluoro. I'm waiting to hear from him. If he chooses not I will be going to Olympia. Keep in touch. It's nice to hear from someone local.

Can you relay the Doc's name in Olympia for the fills and aftercare? I too am considering a Mexico surgery but am concerned about getting the help I need back home. Thanks

It is so important to have aftercare arranged before your surgery. I found in MT only 1 Dr. that will take patients from MX. In Olympia the Dr.'s name is Dr. William Neal and he does fills under fluoro which is great. His phone # is 360-412-3120. If I hadn't found a Dr. in MT I was going to go to Dr. Neal. Best wishes. I checked with Dr. Hennessey's office and they don't fill patients from Mexico. Too bad more options would have been nice. Sharon

Dr. Fox and Dr. Neal both do fills for MX bandsters. I get my fills in Olympia with Dr. Neal, they are $350 with fluoro. Dr. Fox does not yet have fluoroscopy and charges $402 for first-timers and $250 (Maybe it was $225) for subsequent fills.

Hope this helps a little, still WOW-ing that you are having to consider such a journey...

I have also gone to Dr Neils staff in Olympia for 2 fills and liked them alot. I can not fill my port so floro is the only way to get to it right now. I was filled 2cc a week ago thursday it cost 350. and by Monday I knew it wasent enough so they saw me again this thursday for 150 dollars. I am now filled at 2.5.5 the use of floro is nice becuse they can be more aggesive at 3cc the stoma was completly closed so the backed it down until the Fluid trickled thru. Ive read some folks can feel the prossess but Im not one of them unless the Fluid is ice cold. If you have a good feel for the port theres a fill center in Arlington Washington for 150 bucks called the weight managment center really nice folks (no floro) If your intersested I can dig up the number for you. Good Luck

Hello Montanans, I have been researching AGB doctors here in Montana and have not gotten very far. I live in Bozeman, not very close to any bariatric docs (but we do have good bone guys . I have heard of Dr. Rohrer but he hasn't done a lot of bands. Research says the more bands done the fewer the complications so I am hesitant about him. Didn't know about Dr. Hennessey, thanks spldgrl for the info on him.

Good luck, ttbseffy, on your up coming surgery. I will be thinking about you. Let us know how you are doing.

Regards,

T

Just spoke with Mary, Dr. hennesseys nurse. "because of his malpractice insurance, they are no longer allowing him to fill mx bands" As far as surgeon and placing the band, I am very happy with my results. start to finish. He is very personal yet very adimit that the band is a tool and if you want a "free ride" this is not the ticket. He keeps on my ass, if I miss too many months of checking in Mary calls or emails to see where I am at and to check in. check in is a weigh in and thats it no $$$ no big deal just to keep me honest with the scale.

As far as experience, I was Dr. Hennesseys first lap band patient. selfish on my part, I wanted the Inamed referrred Dr. there to make sure things went right. I have had no problems! none. my scars are great he even lined the port scare (largest one) up with my gall bladder scare so it looks the same only cleaner. Had to check out my tummy to see if I could see the others, they are there about the size of my pointer finger long and a pencil line thick. so great in my opinion. I have referred 2 friends to him, and they are doing great not loosing as fast as theyd like but "its a tool"

If money is a problem and you arent prepare to pay for the possibles than you may no like him. He doesnt "wait for money" for example I was not loosing and all the experiences of errosion on the site I questioned the possibility that was a tuesday, monday of next week I was in for the down the throat test- I took that as he was cautions of my health and wanted an answer NOW better that when I had the cash- I am a cash pay too) Thank gosh for payments!

I could go on and on. He has had changes in his staff the last 6 months so things are getting more organized and familiar with the rules of malpractice insurance for this surgery. If you have any questions directly about him let me know there are a few of us here in Lewistown that have experience.

PS Mary says she heard a Dr. in Kalispell was doing mx band fills??? didnt know name of anything but is she hears will keep me posted.

Ok so all my praise of the great Dr. Hennessey as kick me in the ass, called to schd a fill today and as of Monday yes, 3 days ago, he just left the clinic- gone no forward or patients no info NOTHING- what a jerk, went to his house, yeah, kinda bold but hey- all he "lifetime" lecture crap, he could have given me the info he was leaving so I would know where to go. The great falls clinic is referring to a Dr. Lucas or Roher- so I will contact them luckily the original nurse that did my office visits now works for Lucas so she will call tomarrow with the scoop and what to do.

So question- I live in a very small town, and know Dr. H's wife and family and where he lives, is it way too bold to just show up, knock at the door and say "what the hell...." or just wait for the clinic to get things straight? there are no docs who have been doing the fills so it will be starting all over with a new needle poker- damn dont want to be a ginnie bpig again. - anyway had to vent, sorry MT patients he is a good doc just looking out for #1 and our expense. this is a small town he maybe did 30-40 lap bands he could have sent letters or calls- his nurse didnt even know what the deal was. - UGH

That's very strange. Maybe he had an emergency?? Make sure you get copies of your band files. I know Dr. Rohrer needs proof of Inamed band to do fills. We had a Dr. up in Kalispell who just left with records and files. Many people couldn't get their kids in school because he had the shot records. It took up to a year to get them. If you know him personaly I would call him. I'd keep checking with the office though. Good luck.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
