Post Op Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

I know we aren't supposed to compare.

I know this is a marathon and not a sprint.

But I have to confess to being totally frustrated.

My progress has been so slooooooow. I was hoping for a kick start the first month being that almost three weeks of that was just liquids, and then it would level off to a slower but steady progress after that.

I lost more on my pre-op diet eating a heck of a lot more than I am now and I wasn't even exercising.

The last two and a half weeks I've barely eked out two pounds. At that rate it is going to take me two years and there are people on the boards doing it in 4 - 6 months. I did not expect that to happen since I'm a so-called 'lightweight', but I didn't think eight to ten pounds a month was too much to ask for.

I'm so disappointed.

I'm not expecting answers, I just needed to vent to someone.

I am 4 weeks out tomorrow and I understand how you feel. I see others losing faster but then again, they weighed more when they had the surgery. The more you weigh, the faster it comes off in the beginning. I went through a 15 lb weight loss right after the surgery in about 2 weeks but after that I have slowed to 2 lbs a week and maybe only 1 lb if I am lucky this week. I exercise but its not showing up on the scale yet. I have just stalled and I suspect my body is getting readjusted and holding on to the weight as a response to the shock I put it through. I have been told that everyone goes through this so I am just sitting back and being glad that the scale isnt going up and I am not hungry. Hopefully this too shall pass. I did expect to hit a plateau but just not this soon. OH WELL

I was sleeved at the beginning of April The first month, the weight was literally melting off of me. The second month I pretty much hit a plateau. I wasn't losing anything. Then, all of a sudden it just started coming off again. I didn't do anything different at any point. I think my body was just adjusting to all the changes it was going through.

All have to offer is the same a s Susan said...... I would have some months with the band where I would do 15-20 lbs and some months where I was lucky to get 5-6.....I really think my body kept moving it around....cause my clothes would fit better.....but the scale never budged!!!!!

Vent all you want and remember turtle or rabbit.....we are all going fo rhte same finish line!

Ruthi -

I'm going through this now - and I'm not even three weeks post surgery! I've lost 16 pounds since July 5th but now I seem to be stuck. The scale isn't moving at all.

Has your weight loss kicked back in?

Is this normal??

I had it happen to me. It was totally frustrating. I'm now losing again. It stalled for nearly two weeks. Even though I'm losing it is slow. I was hoping I'd be losing 10 - 15 pounds/mo. at least at the beginning. I probably will lose ten this month, but hoped for more since the first six months is supposed to have the greatest results.

A stall when moving from liquids to food is very common. My theory is that it's Water weight due to the change from all liquids to adding in mushy/soft food that has to be digested more.

I believe that has to be true because that is when I hit my stall. I have noticed that the fat % on the scale has gone down but the Water weight % has increased. I have decided to be patient. I will get there one way or the other and I love that I am not gaining anything.

Ruthi, what kind of scale do you have that shows fat and Water percentages?

Ooh, confirmation for my little pet theory. I'm so happy now, I could spit!

That's a really good question. I never knew there was a scale that would show anything besides how many lbs you weigh.

I bought it at Jenny Craig, It is a digital scale, I think it was 50 dollars as a member but not sure what it is as a non member. I know they have a variety at Bed bath and beyond but not sure if they show Water and fat %

Thanks, Ruthi. I think I am going to head over to Bed, Bath & Beyond today and see if they have any. I would love to have one like that.

Me too -- wonder if I can find my lifetime Jenny Craig card ... or if they still have me on their roster ...

Heh, I have a lifetime Jenny Craig card too!

But I have a feeling they don't sell this one:

and that's the one I've decided I have to have.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
