Wow, I didn't know it would take 6 months. I hope the warm liquid does the trick. Do you have the problem when you have Soup? That's warm.

I hope you get it all figured out. I know it can't be easy cause I see my friend going through this too.(((Susan)))

Hearing that didn't make me real happy either; however, at least he didn't say I'll be this way forever! Now, that would totally suck! I can eat warm things easier than cold that is for sure, so I guess that is what I will stick with until things get better ... after this I may never be able to look at a can or bowl of soup again! (Sort of like I feel about Hamburger Helper as that is what, as newlyweds, we lived on way back when [my first marriage]).

Thanks for the hugs - back atcha (((Daisy)))

If it makes you feel any better, I have very little desire to eat solids. I don't like that full feeling after only a few bites. There are so many things I like that are easier to eat, I would rather ease into solids over the next few months.

Well, let's see how he's feeling tomorrow ... once the pain medicine all wears off. Am glad he came through his surgery w/o any complications and there was no hernia repair needed. He didn't believe me that they operated on him and had to lift his "gown" up to double check ...:bored0:

That's exactly how I was. When I was cleared to drink, I couldn't believe I could drink whatever they brought me with no trouble at all.

Well tomorrow is the blue dye test so we'll see how he does. I'm hoping he does great with it and doesn't have any issues like I had/have.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
