HELLO ALL--

Some of you my beautiful fianc? had the sleeve surgery. However i am nervous about having it. I am going to start the diet as of Monday and am really scared of not being able to swallow, or not being able to get enough nutrients.

I am also NERVOUS about the pain, having been through surgeries this year, shoulder, and heart cauterization. The shoulder was not pretty hurt like a bugger!!

Soooooo I am having some reservations....BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

I want to be thin for the first time....I have only been down to 180 once in my adult life and that was 25 years ago and I am tired of carrying the extra weight. Not to mention it is now starting to effect my health. High BP and feeling old in my bones.

It is TIME to do something....

Any and all impute would be appreciated.

I am currently at 255 stand 5' 11' and would like to see about 175 in weight....

Am I being unreasonable with doing this? Or is it a good thing...

Thanks

:lol0:

yes, as long as you know that you'll only be able to eat these itty bitty portions. You can definitely eat around the sleeve, just like you can with a band. There are people who are grazers, and just eat a little bit, but do it all day long , or all evening long.

The surgery pain is the easiest part of all of this.

Once I ate fish, and I thought I had only eaten a little bit. I didn't feel full at the table. Once I stood up, I knew I was in trouble. I was so full, I was in horrible pain for 2 hours. I thought my stomach was going to explode. I really did not eat all that much, either.

The other day I ate 2000 calories!

Luckily I burned about 1200 doing exercise. But it was scary.

I'm weaning off my PPI and I have acid and it feels like hunger. I know it's not and I can ignore it. But eating something soothes my throat. So I have a little something. And then a little more.

It's crazy!

I'm supposed to give myself a month for everything to settle down so I'll just have to deal for a month, I guess.

Don't be nervous...even with having all the trouble eating and taking in fluids, I am still glad I did the surgery and I am looking forward to future months when my sleeve and I will become friends! The surgery pain sucks, it is not horrid, but lets be real, it is major surgery and hurts. But it lessens each day and is not bad after about 5-6 days. My worst problem was the Fluid intake, I just keep telling myself it will get better each day, and it seems to. Be positive! Best of luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
