Goodness, I couldn't imagine having any more kids at this age either. My brother is 50 years old and he and his wife just had a baby girl about a month ago! No way, my youngest is 16 and soon I will be an empty nester.

OMG I think if I found out I was pregnant at my age (51) I'd have to slash my wrists ... my boys are 30 and 26 and I have a 4 year old grandson ... those are the only babies I want in my house - grandbabies and someone else's babies.

I had one and half successful pregnancies with my band.....breast fed all three with it....and pumped all week while recuperating.......I will look for the link of the articl I just printed for my doctor on managing the ob visits for bariatric patients.

I think the one thing both of us would have done different this last pregnancy (ended w/ premiee due to emergency band removal due to strangulation) would have done monthly Protein checks and realized the intermittent leg swelling was not related to my ppregnancy .....but the Protein deficiecy due to band..

I had never swelled with my othe two.....but I was considered a "geriatric" pregnancy so every one kept blowing me off....even when I had belly pain......told to not worry...all pregnancy issues (not my ob...his partner.....mine freaked out when he got back and realized what happened!

But there was a list of other tests the should do....... I will hunt it down for you

My DD got pregnant the first month she tried.

She was about 1 1/2 years post op from gastric bypass. My grandson was very healthy and weighed a little over 7 lbs. She has not lost the weight she gained being pregnant though.

Speaking of older moms, my boss had twins at the age of 50. She was almost 51. They were born on New Years Eve and she was 51 on March 1st.

If I got preggers today I'd have to dig my eye out with a rusty nail.

She is crazy. She doesn't have time for those kids and they call their babysitter Mommy.

She is a very busy attorney. Her husband has a son, she has an adopted daughter and a bio son. So they thought they needed a child together. That makes 5 kids in all. They are on a one month vacation to Minnesota right now, so I think she is finally getting a taste of what it's actually like to be a mom to 5 kids. the babysitter/nanny didn't go with them.

And that's putting it mildly!

AT 51 All I want to do is PRACTICE not have any!!

ME TOO!

fertile myrtle is about right!!! i had my surgury 10 August 2009 and at 3 months out of surgury im 7 weeks pregnant!!!! omg!!! I called my dietition straight away and im now on 1 slow release multi and elivit (translation 2 x horse tablets) I then called my surgon who was very happy for me and told me not to worry about a thing. bottom line is this..... there are people in the world starving having babies. The baby will take what it needs. The responsibility is now on my head to make sure i simply follow my outlines *shrugs* he said that if anything i was in better condition now than ever before, you knowwwww looking after yourself eating well, exercising daily and dropping bucket loads of weight!!! what better conditions to fall pregnant!!!

so.... at 7 1/2 weeks i feel sick as!!! i didnt get morning sickness with my first baby (well not like this anyway) i am having trouble eating and drinking....all day!!! The desire to eat has gone out the window (unless its something i really shouldnt be eating) typical craving right!!!

anywho... will keep you all posted

cheers

ange.

Ange -

Wow - and congratulations. I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy. Keep us posted on your journey ... I know there are others on the forum (Rosey, Tiffy) that want to have babies and they'll be interested to read your journey, I am sure. I would say at this point in the game, eat whatever you can get down - try to make health choices; however, if you can't get anything down that isn't healthy, you still need to get in calories as the baby will take what it needs and you don't want to be malnourished. Keep up your fluids too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
